Hi All

I have not posted here for a while,  These last few weeks I have been feeling really depressed about life in general and seem to struggle through each day and feel mentaly drained.  I had a change in my medication about three weeks ago which was increaseing my Effexor from 150mg to 225mg and taking 20mg of Temazipam at night to help me sleep.   I don't seem to be taking part in the activities that i like to do and sit in the house instead as i just feel so tired.    I am on the waiting list for some CBT which i hope will help me but still waiting for the start date, I do say to myself to try and stay in the moment and be positive but these feelings always seem to get the better of me and i end up depressed.  Sorry to vent but just needed to wright down how i was feeling.

Hi Ben,

Give that effexor a little more time to work. I am sure that it will help you when it kicks in. It takes a good four to six weeks to get going. Even though you are already taking it. I take 375 mg a day. That is the highest dose you can take. Though I noticed when they added abilify, the effexor really kicked in. And the abilify really helped my moods.

Try not to beat yourself up for not feeling good. That is a huge part of the depression. Try to go with the flow of things and don't be so hard on yourself. I know that we all want immediate results, but that isn't possible. So in the meantime, give yourself a break. You are a good person and you will start seeing that soon. Probably within another week or two. So be patient my friend.

Soon you will get back into the activities that you use to do. But it may be a gradual process. Nothing happens over night, though we wish that it did. Or maybe you will find new things to do which is good too. You are making remarkable progress, though it might not seem like it, but later down the road, you will come to realize that.

Well I have to get moving, time to walk the dogs, and then get ready for work. You have a wonderful day. Do stay in the moment and take things as they come. Give yourself a break. You really are trying and that is going to show.

Hugs, Karen

Ben,

Good Morning. I am sorry to read you are feeling so down.  I am wondering why the CBT is taking so long?  It seems like you have been on the list for 5 months or more.  I know you talked of being on the list when you were skiing in the winter.

I really would like to see you try the online CBT to get you by until you do the face to face.

I know how awful it feels to be feeling good for awhile and then you hit a road bump so please know that I am here for you.

You will get through this.  Depression is a disorder we  have to keep working through and you, my friend, are in good company.

Hugs

Kitt

Kitt & Karen

Thank you for taking the time to reply to my post it does mean a lot to have your support. I have been on the waiting list for around 5 months now which has been frustrating, I phoned them on Tues and asked what was going on and they said they would chase it up and i should here this week so fingers crossed for that. I did speak to my doctor about abilify but he chose to up the Effexor first before trying any thing else thanks again ladies.
