HI all, I usually hang out on the UC forum but I take meds for depression/sleep issues and I have a question. In the last few years, zoloft, wellbutrin, and cymbalta have all given me anxiety. I tried to go on pexeva but could barely stay awake on the 20 mg dose. I tried effexor and that made me pee every 15 minutes. I feel like I am running out of options here.  My pcp wanted me to try wellbutrin with pexeva but I am scared to try the wellbutrin again after it gave me chest pains. Do others have such problems with side effects? I do not want to take benzos at all, ever.

Hi Jeanneac,

Welcome to the depression forum. I don't have that problem, but have you or your doctor ever concidered taking an anti anxiety medication with your antidepressant? I take effexor and xanax together. Also abilify. The combination seems to work well for me.

Best wishes,

Hugs, Karen

I take Paxil for my depression and have done so for at least 5 years now. It seems to be working well for me with minimal side effects.

Hi Jeanneac,

Yes, xanax can be addicting. I guess that you could call it that. But if you are going to have anxiety, it is a good method of combating it.

I took paxil and didn't have any weight gain from it. But some people might.

There are other methods of fighting anxiety other than pills as in meditation, relaxation and breathing techniques. I guess it is all in what you need.

I hope that you can figure out what is right for you.

Hugs, Karen
