During my freshman year in college I felt that...no one would notice if I just disappeared. I went on with those feelings til the end of my sophomore year of college.....my grades were suffering, I didn't feel like being as social as I once was, etc. I saw a counselor through my sophomore year...but she wasn't able to break down any of the walls I had built up around my emotions. I went through my junior year like a zombie, a doctor at the student med center put me on a low dose of prozac....which didn't change my mood, at all...but I was trying anything at this point to feel something!

In the past year I have gone from 25mg of Effexor to 75mg extended release Effexor to 150mg extended release Wellbutrin.....which actually seems to make my mood a bit more stable........

Just don't know what to do anymore.......

Please refer to Forum Rule #1

Hi Jo,
Welcome to Healing Well! I did edit your post to comply with Forum Rules, but I think the idea is still communicated.

I am sorry to hear that you are struggling so much. It sounds like you are trying to do all of the right things. I'm wondering whether you have ever looked into Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). It is a special kind of group counseling that is targeted to people who compulsively engage in negative behaviors. If you haven't looked into it, you might try asking your counselor about.

If I can find it, I think I have a website that gives more information about DBT & lists certified counselors around the U.S. I hope you feel better. Hang in there! If things get too horrible, you can always call 911 & get emergency help.

peace,
Frances

Hi Jo,

Welcome to healing well. I think that you have come to a good place and I want you to know that we are here to support you.

I take 375mg of effexor every day and it works good for me. Maybe you weren't taking enough. I also take a mood stabilizer called abilify. It helps a lot too.

I do think that the DBT that Frances mentioned would help you also. You might need to learn how to socialize with people. And you will be able to. So talk to your councelor or doctor about getting into some type of therapy. It really does help.

Take care Jo

Hugs, Karen
