hi saveme. well i am 37. it took me until my early thirties for me to love myself. i am still doing so, i feel it is an ongoing process. it is different for everyone, it is dependent i feel on some critical factors in life, thus you need to look at things that are age relevant and time focused for your age demographic. loving yourself, for me was to cheifly understand my inadequcies, my faults, the good stuff and areas that i need to focus on. the process, i feel is a flowing system, you flow from one lot of learning to another. for me to love myself as myself i first learn't forgiveness, for you your sarting point will be different. showing your heart to others without shame or indifference was something that helped with on-going process. i am still a work in progress though. hope this helps.

ps, i am sure other members will provide more info, this was my 2 cents worth. with compassion

It does take time and really in order to love someone else in a mature way you need to be able to love yourself. But this is also part of the maturation process. So how about you start with being compassionate with yourself.

It cannot hurt to talk with your school social worker or counselor about this?

It may take awhile for you to find a therapist you like, but if you are really ready to get some help for this professionals are the way to go.  Not because there is anything really majorly wrong with you, but because sometimes it helps to have someone to advocate and listen without judging.

We will be here if you get diagonsied with depression.  All I can do is encourage you to find someone who can help you thru this process, like a teacher helps a student.  Therapist help with dealing with the emotional part of life.

I also want to give you some resources that might be better for you then healingwell...
