Yes, I've been taking Remeron for a long time and it's the only thing that helped me at all, out of dozens of AD's. It is known for causing drowsiness. I take it at bedtime for this reason and FINALLY after decades of insomnia I sleep like a normal human being. During the day I don't feel groggy at all.

On Jan 17th 2008 I had a very traumatic situation ending in a colostomy. had the reversal which put me through months of hell, but better now. I have had over 12 pretty major surgeries, 100's of "procedures", my immune system is a NO GO. I've been in and out of the hospital for the last 10 years. I have no real Dx's really. I have a lot of "Psuedo" (sp?) symptoms, so they say. This in just 24 years and its just half the story. (Violin's playing yet?)

Meds: Celexa, Klonopin, Serequel, Hydrocodone)

I was on Remeron and it worked great for years, until a doctor who was not my psychiatrist, decided he had the right to suddenly stop it, and when I restarted it, it didn't work so well. The sleeping side effect and the weight gain side effects were both major bonuses for me.

Oh, Remeron is a weird one too, the side effects like sleep, gets less the higher dose you have.

I have been on Remeron for about 7 yrs. I started out at 15mgs which made me very sleepy. You have to take it at night. I went up to 30 then 45 mgs the highest dose. My Pdoc eventually had me go down to 30 and then 15. Didn't notice any difference but events in my life caused my depression to worsen and she put me back up to 30 mgs. I have been on it so long it no longer makes me sleepy and the 30 mgs are controling my depression pretty well. I did gain weight on the 45 mgs but have lost it. It's true that the higher the dose the less sleepy it makes you but as I said take it at night. I tried at least 6 other ad meds before this one and this is the one that worked the best with the least side effects.
