hi illusive. i am jamie, i too have multiple dreams, 4-6 or more a night, providing i do get to sleep that is! nightmares, yes but i am working on this by keeping my thoughts positive before bed. with my conditions i do suffer from intense insomnia, less coffee, less stimulation and a sleep pattern are hepling this, albeit sometimes i just can't sleep, even after taking my seroquel. talk with your dr, he/she may be able to recommend some treatments, and i suggest trying to wind down some an hour or so before bed. i wish you well. healings to you. jamie, male, 37

Over sleep causes people to be more tired ,and you should be getting 9-8 hours sleep so that probably has alot to do with it. But honestly i wouldn't knwo about that, i'm a under sleeper, 5 hrs every night, but i'm hardly ever tired.
Anyhow depression cna also make you feel sluggish so with not eating. But ya tlak to someone about the depression and maybe they cna get you on some meds to help.

Good luck <3

Hi Illusive,

First of all, welcome to HealingWell and the depression forum. I am sorry that you have had to deal with depression at such a young age. I was a depressed teen too, so I know it isn't much fun.

As for nightmares, I dream a lot. But they say it is my medication, though I remember dreaming a lot all of my life. Not too many nightmares though. But often things can stimulate nightmares, things on our minds, watching scarey movies and sometimes they just plain happen. They say that your dreams can either be fears or desires. So that might shed some light on the subject. ARe you in any stressful situations at this time?

I just want to let you know that we all are here to support you. I hope that you feel better in the near future. Keep posting and let us know how things are going for you. Take care my friend. I think writing things down helps us a lot, so keep posting or start a journal. You can do a dream diary and try to figure out if something is stimulating the night mares, maybe things you eat before bed, or situations at hand. Write down what you had happen that day before you went to bed. When you wake up from a nightmare, or any dream, write it down on paper. Sometimes you can find a connection. I dream a lot. Every night and in color. Some people don't dream in color. Keep us posted.

Hugs, Karen

Jamie is right about the walking. Also gives more oxygen to the brain. That is a good thing. And gives you energy and a good feeling.

I dream every night without fail- graphic, somewhat upsetting dreams- up to 3 a night. They make no sense. I have had these since I was first put on antidepressants at the age of 14. There are a few things you can try that may help-

try and adjust your diet to avoid all stimulants: caffeine, guarana, ginseng etc. Dont eat or drink sugary foods prior to bedtime. Try a good herbal tea and a hot bath/shower. Consider putting yourself on a schedule- regular, daily exercise and try and not nap during the day. Meditation, sleep aids- I also stopped playing violent/action video games before bed. Find a good book and read yourself to sleep.

These are just some ideas, I will get you a link to a website that can help with this stuff- hang in there,

Maz XX
