i dont know what to do i cannot relax eat or sleep. i am going to counseling and i know it will help. but i was diagnosed with gen herpes 8 to 9 years ago, and i went to the er last night cause i had a bump in my mouth. now the doctor told me it was not herpes it was a mouth lesion! i cannot seem to stop worrying about this. i went to kiss my niece on the cheek she turned and before i knew it i kissed her on the lips. i know some people dont know to much about this. i thought i had this disease understood but obviously not. i am scared of my neices parents reaction if a cold sore develops on her lips. now i know i may just be paranoid but i don't want to have my niece living with this, but it may already be to late! help any advice. does anyone here have hsv-1? help please!

Hi Ealey,

I wouldn't worry about the kiss. I don't think it spreads that way. I am sure that your niece will be okay. But you can always talk to the doctor about it if you are worried. That would be my suggestion.

I hope that you can relax and feel better soon.

Take care,

Hugs, Karen

Hi Ealey,

HSV-1 cold sores appear on the outside of the mouth, not inside. You may have just had a canker sore, which is not related to herpes. I would try to relax :-)

from my understanding HSP-1 dies when it hits the air, furthermore the young will have strong immunities, thus i think all will be okay. to ease yourself give ya doc a call. jamie.

Staying busy is good........especially when you don't feel like it.  Please stay in touch with Doc about concerns.  Are you on any meds for depression/anxiety?  The constant out of control worrying can respond well to meds.
Take care and I hope today finds you feeling better and not worrying so much.

Learn meditation. It really helps. Learn to live in the moment. And take life one day at a time. Also self help books help a lot.

Having these problems does not make you weird, it makes you human.  I did not have ins for a long time, I kept calling around until I found someone to see me and at a reasonable rate because I was paying cash.  If you feel you need medical attention, don't give up until you get it.  I hope your world is a little sunnier today.
