Hi. I would love if anyone would give me some advice, i've never been so down...

Okay so in 2007, i met this guy named d...yea i know another person going all crazy over a guy..but just listen... We dated on and off for 3 years. throughout those years i fell in love, but during our last months together he cheated numerous times...lying and breaking up then crawling back to me and always popping up again when i was happy again. Well its been a year since we dated last and i still am in love with him...this summer we had a fling while he had a girlfriend. I felt horrible and it ended bad. Now we dont talk and it literally kills me. Everyday i see a picture or his name pops up i cry. NO ONE will listen to me insteasd they just say your dumb it is his lose but none of this helps,..on top of that my dad is in prison and my mom and him are getting a divorce after 17 years... my mom boyrfriend who i know live with is a jerk...and i cant stand him. My grandpa says he doesnt want anything to do with me anymore and he was my best friend. I've lost so much and gained nothing in return....

But i was always happy when d was here...I need him. He now has a girlfriend who i hate to admit, is gorgeous. D was my first serious boyfriend...my first love, and i need help. Im worried im going to do something stupid. No one listens and it is like no one cares. Please someone help.

thanks.

Hi there,

I'm really concerned that you say you're worried you're going to do something stupid. Please, Lost, if you are worried about yourself, please phone a mental health hotline, or take yourself to your nearest emergency department immediately and ask for their help.

In the mean-time, if you *do* have anything near you that you have been planning to use to hurt yourself, I'd feel a lot happier if you quickly put them in a place that was a little less accessible. Do you feel strong enough to do that?

No, i don't think i have the strngth to physically hurt myself. But emotionally it's as if it already happened...any advice would be deeply appreciated.

I'm not sure if I understand this...?

"But emotionally it's as if it already happened.."

Could you explain a little more, please?

I think it's important to draw a distinction between being very upset over life stresses, and having depression or a similar mental illness.

Have you been diagnosed with depression? Do you have reason to think you may be depressed?

I'm no expert, but it sounds to me as if what you need is a counsellor or a psychologist.

We aren't equipped to give therapy on this forum. If you look at some of the other posts here, you'll see that they relate to medication issues, or symptom management, things like that. We don't know you, and we can't talk face-to-face, so we really aren't thte best people to talk you through your feelings of sadness about what happened with your boyfriend.

That said, I'm sorry you're having a rough time right now.

Hi lost, I'm sorry to hear about your troubles. You must be feeling very lonely and hurt, but please do NOT go to this guy for support. He seems like a toxic person. On top of that he has a new girlfriend. You should seek counseling to safely cope with your depression. In the meantime you can find a good support system here. Good luck.

lost oliv33 makes sense. please seek some professional assistance. sorry for your situation. the hard medicine is the learning that comes along from it. he is toxic. many healings. and remember that seeking help is a sign of strength and not weakness. jamie
