I have read up on it a bit but still confused.
I know there are several types of depression.
From my understanding there is situational and clinical.
Can someone explain this to me better?

I know one is when a situation has you depressed and another is when the chemicals in your brain are not responding properly.

Thanks

Hi S,

I guess that is all there is to it. I am clinically depressed, which I guess means that it is in my brain chemistry. So I will always have to be on medications.

But situational depression means that there is a situation that is causing your depression and you can help this with counseling or being on medication for a shorter period of time. So I think you answered your own question.

I hope that your depression is only situational. There fore you will be better sooner. I highly recommend counseling for that. As sometimes when you go on medications, you end up staying there.

Best wishes for a wonderful day. Know that we are here for you to help you in any way that we can. We are here to support you and help you through these difficult times.

depression is a tough, it is also a medical condition, thus alike asthma or diabetes it is managed the same way. with anything you have good and bad days, same with depression. to keep myself positive i try my best to drop the words " suffer from" instead i say live with depression. i have suffered enough, "i live with" depression and diabetes, etc. i manage my diabetes, to the best of my abilities as well as my depression. take care. jamie

Jamie,

That was a great way to put it. I manage my depression instead of suffering with it. Very positive outlook. Great!!!
