Hi everyone: new to this forum. have been on fluoxetine for the past 4 months, and had to increase it recently. Was making me have tremors and totally fatigued, so called my doctor today and he wants me to switch to 50 mgs. of zoloft and decrease the fluoxetine slowly. Does Zoloft work for anyone?

Hi there,

Welcome to the depression forum.

I didn't take zoloft for a real long time because it gave me diarhhea. I had to go off of it, but other than that, it worked well for me. Try to remember that everybody is different and we all react to medications differently.

I hope that the zoloft works for you. I had to try a lot of different meds before I foune what worked with the least amount of side effects.

Remember it takes four to six weeks for your medicaitons to take full effect and two weeks for side effects to go away. So be patient, band let your doctor know of any problems with your meds re: side effects. They can be bothersome, but many of them go away.

Best wishes for a wonderful evening.

Hugs, Karen

Karen: Thank you for responding. What medication are you on for depression? I actually was on zoloft a long time ago, and I think it helped, and also I remember at times having the diahhea but that ended after awhile. I just don't like how these antidepressants make me feel sometimes, numb and just very chronically fatigued. I am going through menopausal symptons now , and have a lot of trouble with sleep, and teary eyed a lot about different things. Have two grown children out of the house and trying to get to know my husband again. Also have 4 small dogs that keep me company. Went through the empty nest thing, also had a traumatic experience in my childhood that keeps haunting me. I just feel stressed out a lot and not real happy with myself at times. You are so kind with your words! thanks again for responding, much appreciated!

NIftyfifty,

I am currently going off of effexor and onto pristiq. I took a high dose of effexor and am weaning slowly. They are related so the transaction should be smoothe. I hope. I was taking 375mg a day and down to 150 now. I need to call my psychologist and see when I can drop another pill. I was suppose to call her last week and forgot. My brain is kind of going these days, I just don't know where. lol...

I am also 50, will be 51 this month. So I guess I am over the hill now. lol... I am going through menopause too. Just starting to skip the periods. Been through the hot flashes. But not to say I wont get more. And the nightsweats, I have been through that too. Don't have them anymore. But still have the monthly visit. I skiped one month, hope to skip another.

I hope that you are having a good day today. Let me know how things are going.

Hugs, Karen
