I stumbled upon this site, after crying for hours and just not able to stop.  Let me start by saying i'm 36, had been in a 10 yr relationship with the love of my life, and 3 months ago he woke up and said, "I can't do this anymore".  We had, or what I percieved was a great outpouring of emotion, about what was wrong with the relationship, what we could do to make our lives better.  He has since started seeing someone else, (he denies this, they're "just friends") and I just can't get passed this.  I live in an apartment complex, and live 3 doors down from him.  I have good days when I go to work, (I work in the medical field), but the weekends are the worst for me.  I hang out with friends, I have truly never been the social butterfly type, as I have learned from myself that part of my problem is social anxiety.  I just don't know if I need to see a counselor, or a psychiatrist.  I know I need to talk to someone.  I cannot do this every weekend. If there is anyone that is going thru anything similar like this, I would love to talk to you.  I was online this morning trying to find a physician who would be able to see me soon.

Hi Ayriss,

Yes, I think that a counselor would be in order.  Then go from there.

I am sorry about your break up.  I guess people change, but I wonder if he has been seeing this girl.  Don't let it feel like you are a lesser person, you aren't.  But you are hurt and that is only natural.    Men will come and go in your life, you will find the right one, I promise.  It just takes time and experience.  And that comes as time goes on.

But counseling will be a great support system for you right now.  And then maybe they will refer you to a psychiatrist for medication if need be.  I think that this is situational at this point and when you start to move on, you will feel better.  I hope so anyway.

Keep posting, as we are here for you.  There are many wonderful members on this forum.   But on weekends it is kind of slow, I guess people doing their own thing.  I generally work on the weekends.  But am here on and off.  Usually in the morning and then in the evening when I get home.

Take care my friend.

Hugs, Karen

Thank you guys for the compassion and kind words of encouragement. Its been awhile since I last posted, and I've actually been doing better. I spent Christmas with a dear friend of mine and her family from work which was great! I'm still going to see a GP, I'll wait til after the holiday season, as dr's offices around this time are pretty full. Siobhan, to answer your question, I work in cardiology.

I'm glad there's an outlet for me to come to here. Its great to type the words out and get them off my chest. I've been thinking about you guys too, and hope you are all doing well. I'll post more later.

Talk to y'all soon!
