I am on methadone maintenance and I am having some depression and also have fibromyalgia. I could take cymbalta or prozac the doctor said, but has anyone here tried it with methadone? I would rather talk to someone who has taken either of these to get some feedback. I would just be on the lowest dose of either prozac or cymbalta as to be safe with the meth.confused

That is something you really should discuss with your doc. Does the one who gave you the anti depressants know that you are taking it?

We are not capable of giving you this advice. So please talk to your doc or a pharmacist about it. If the doc knows that you are taking the methadone, then I would think it would be okay.

Best wishes,

Hugs, Karen

i have not, but i do know that a lot of people who are on methadone also take anti-depressants as well. if your doc has said okay then it should be. your pharnacist will be able to give you more info pertaining to the combination, side - effects, etc. all the best, jamie

Yes of course my doctor knows I am on Methadone. My infectious disease doctor seems to think my liver is stronger than I do and that the antidepressants would not affect it. But I like to ask people who have hep c  for advice as well.  I am genotyope 1A and liver biopsy 6 months ago stated f1-f2 fibrosis, my viral load is 17 million but alt and ast not bad. I am thinking my viral load seems so high, I do not want to do anything to make matters worse. Thks for the feedback!
