Hello old friends and some new I suppose

I went through hell this year with severe anxiety related to my depression I ended up cutting my pain medication suboxone from 16mg to 1/2 mg and feel much better. Was the suboxone the cause? Hmmm-mmm Hard to say for sure as it could be I was just "cycling" out of depression. Anyway still a little down and cry easily. Some interest in things but no passion as I once had.

Very glad to be away from anxiety as it was sheer hell. OK 3 months now.

I will be in a clinical trial at Columbia for an electric curret thing. It is a bettery charged induction thingy but far from what is known as ECT it is also not magnetic stimulation. As I get more info I'll pass it on. It takes place next month or March
The current stops short of causing an action potential (twitch or neuronal "firing") how it works is unclear much like ECT The great part is it's free and may work on my chronic pain yea!

Happy new year Jamiee Etal

Hello Glen,

So happy that you posted.  And glad that you are feeling better.  It is a hard struggle finding what is right for yourself and making things work.  But it sounds like you are on your way there.

I hope that the new treatment works for you.  Will be thinking about you.

Take care, keep posting.

Thanks

The trial is not involving magnets; it is direct low voltage stimulation. A battery powered electrode allows very small amount of voltage to pass through the brain. Seems almost harmless

Hello Sorry but I was very busy moving and unpacking

No memory problems at all. This treatment was dome back in 1966 but with nanotechnology, it has been greatly improved to be very safe.

The worse side effect that they know of is an electric shock when first to touch a metal object. It is like when walking on carpet in the winter time and touching a door knob- a slight jolt no biggie.

The thought is and it is just a guess is that it helps the brain cells do their work better. It is like giving them a "jumpstart" or recharge. In ETC they create a seizure that "reagrages" cell chemistry. In magnetic stimulation it is a "repolarizing" in this treatment it is more of an actual "assist" to make the nerve cells better in doing their job of 'firing"

Wish I could explain it better but that has to do. My pain will be helped as well as a side effect as the nerve cells become better in all the body yea!

That sounds like fascinating technology with some real promise. Good luck. I wish I could have a little robot brain implanted in me to tell me what to do in awkward social situations, which is like, all of them, for me.
