My name is Jmie I am 28 years old, I suffer from major depression and PSTD.  I grew up in an abusive household, was raped as a young teen, have attempted suicide several times , and los ta siser to suicide,  am currently seperated from my spouse,  and the youngest of my three children suffers from sever asthma.  I am sorry I am being so short and blunt, my whole story is on here somewhere,  I just want to say when I reply to a post and say I understand, I really mean it.  While eveyone's story is different, chances are I have expereincd something similar.

hi, my name is jamie, 37, my experiences are very similar. sorry that you are experiencing some difficulty at this time. maybe it is time to speak to someone professionally, you maybe already doing this? are you on medication? a good place for support is here, as is your doctor. also some counselling would be of benefit i feel. dwelling on the past is hard not to do, i know-albeit life is not in the past-it is in the here and now. i have benefited from therapy, thus i recommend it to you. hoping the asthma in your young one improves, and i hope that you find some peace as well. ps. don't forget to check out the forum rules, with compassion, jamie.

Jaimee,
Thank you for your reply. I have recently started couseling and we are trying to see where we can get without medication. I have been on medication previously but the side effects have been as bad if not worse than the depression itself.
I do not necessarily dwell in the past. There are some cases where the past does affect as in my relationship with my husband and is a large reason for our seperation. However I bring up the past more to give others a sense where I am coming from. Too many times people try to say they understand and have no idea.

Hi Jamie and Jamie,

You have come to a good place, with a lot of caring members. I hope that things get better for you, coming here helps a lot. But I agree with Jamie, counseling is the key. Keep trying. Keep sharing.
