I don't understand why I still feel this way. What I thought was the love of my life broke up with me three months ago. It should be getting easier to breathe and go on living, but it's getting worse and worse. Especially at night. I just need someone to talk to.

Hi Adelaidethc,

First of all, welcome to the HealingWell Depression forum. You have found the best site out there. We have many compassionate members who really do understand.

I am sorry for the break up. Yes it gets easier with time, but your wounds are still raw. I imagine especially at night you are lonely, this is normal. But do not dispair. Things will come around and you will meet another "love of your life" and you will be happy again. Often this takes time though. You aren't going to meet somebody right away. Give your wounds time to heal. You don't want a rebound relationship. They don't last long at all. You start looking for the same person that left you and you will never find that person. We are all individuals, everybody is different.

Keep posting and know that we are here for you.

Hugs, Karen

It is so difficult to repair from affairs of the heart...there is no time schedule and some ppl desire professional support to get through it...when I broke up with my ex of 15 yrs, I resolved, after much anxt, that he was a rehearsal for someone who could show his affection more intimately to me...hope you feel better soon and can move on (and yes it takes time)...big hugs, J
