Hello,
I am 24 and my girlfriend is 22. We have been together for almost 5 years now. Neither of us has ever had a very "normal" life and we have what other people call more life experience than anyone our age should have. She has a 5 year old daughter that she had with a previous boyfriend when she was 16. After her daughter was born she was put on anti-depressants for postpartum depression. She had to immediately stop taking them when her insurance no longer covered her. From what I know she has always seen therapists since she was in elementary school. Probably for a few months then she would stop going then something would happen and she would end up in counseling again. In high school since she no longer lived with her parents no one could force her to go. about 3 years ago there was an incident and she was court ordered to see a psychologist twice a month for 6 months. After the last time she saw her she never went again. For the last few years she goes between being in a great mood which can last months then she will go through this thing where she just stays in bed all day and cries over the simplest things. This can last for weeks then she will be back to normal but then it starts again. Also, she has horrible sleeping patterns. Sometimes she only sleeps for a couple hours a night and just walks around the house freaking out about how she didn't clean up or do the dishes or do laundry but never completes anything. She just bounces from one task to another until she is totally overwhelmed and breaks down over it. But other days like today she can sleep for hours. So far she has been sleeping for 19 hours. If I ask her what is wrong she just tells me that she is stressed out but she has nothing to be stressed out over. She goes to school, works, and has her daughter, but she has been failing all her classes the last two years, is about to be fired from her job if she doesn't cheer up, and whenever I get home I watch her daughter because she passes out with in 10 minutes of me walking in the door. She recently saw her doctor and her doctor said there is nothing wrong with her and didn't prescribe her anything. This is getting to a point where I don't know what to do with her because you never know what kind of mood she is going to be in when she wakes up in the morning. Any advice?

Maybe she has chronic fatigue syndrom, or fibromyalgia. Or she could just be depressed because that will make you feel exhausted and overwhelmed. I think the best thing you could do for her is talk her back into going to counseling. OR even seeing another doctor for a second opinion. She definately has something going on with her health.

I hope that this helped some.

Hugs, Karen
