I have been on the wellbutrin for ages, but now my doctor has added 60 mg Cymbalta.  I have tried googling cymbalta, but wow...can't find any positive comments.  I realize that most people will write bad stuff as opposed to the good, but I am nervous about the cymbalta now.  I took 30 mg of it for 2 days and felt horrible, but now I wonder if it's all in my head because of the negative write-ups on it.
I would greatly appreciate any feedback from those on the med or tried the med at one time.
Thank you in advance

hi jamie here, good to see you posting!!
me i am on cymbalta. from effexor 2 pristiq to cymbalta. started at 60mg and now on 120mg. it has been fantastic. still up n down, but overall better. it plays up on your gut for a bit, gastric resistant, my doc gave me the heads up, thus for a week or so i was crook, but now i am okay. less sedating than effexor, and for me more base-line than pristiq. hoping this helps, cheers, jamie.

i was diagnosed with depression about 5 months ago and prescribed lamictal and cymbalta.
i have been suffering from these intense symptoms for the last 2 years and dont know wether i have been correctly diagnosed. note: there was no extraordinary event that caused my depression, but i am a perfectionist so might be very stressed about everything subconciously.
Symptoms are
1) Total mind blockage. brain feels like wood and plastic. Feels like theres no fat there. Mind doesnt work at all. Like my brain has shrunk.
2) detachment from feelings and emotions. Intuition, perception, satisfaction and elation all vanished. Robotic feeling.
3) Concentration and memory problems. Cant learn new things. Forgetfulness.
4) depressive mood, no happiness, motivation, desire or passion. Interest in hobbies, sports and socialising all gone.
5) depressed chest, shallow breathing
6) some pain while urinating.
7) low fluidity in thinking and planning.
8) dark outlook for future.
90 Lethargy and heaviness.

Please note that I have felt a bit better after taking the medications, but I still havent reached my optimal point, where my brain feels all powerful and intelligent. i used to be connected to the world, emotionally and thinking. now I am a bit like robot.
My thinking has become better, but still need to be in control of my life, not the other way around. I used to be so confident of myself, felt I could take on anything. Also felt at peace with world and spirutally. Now thats gone.

Please advise whether this is depression or something else.

A very very concerned person

This to to Ericsmom. I have been on Cymbalta for 6 weeks. I started on the drug because of insomnia, migraines, irritabilty and mild depression. For the 1st week I slept 9-10 hours a night and took several naps during the day. All the sleep was welcomed because I'd been battling insomnia for many months. I felt jittery, yawned all the time despite all the sleep I was getting and had post nasal drip constantly. After a week almost all the symptoms went away except the yawning & post nasal drip. I was well rested at night and was able to stay awake during the day. Week 2 my doctor up my dose to 60 milligrams (the 30 milligrams is just a starter dose). I was  nervous that all the side effects would return, but they didn't. Overall, I felt and feel wonderful. My doctor recently prescibed Wellbutrin because of my incredibly low sex was low before the Cymbalta. The reason I'm still on the Cymbalta is because Wellbutrin is known to cause insomnia and I've experienced that in the past. So far I've been on Wellbutrin for 5 days and feel okay.
FYI: I've been doing research and found that many people have an insatiable sweet tooth while on Cymbalta. I noticed that I've been eating sweets like a fiend, but hadn't put 2 and 2 together until a few days ago. Unfortunately, I'm not craving fruit, but more like high carb sweets and baked goods. Aside from the sweet tooth I don't have much of an appetite and I don't want the food I used to love like Thai food. I'm not really worried about shedding a few pounds. Cymbalta has been a good thing for me and I hope to be able to say that about Wellbutrin soon.
If anyone has had any sexual side effects as a result of Cymbalta or Wellbutrin, please let me know. Thank you.
