Hey guys,

for the past 1.5 years i have been feeling extremely stressed and depressed. it feels like life will never change and i end up crying everyday whenever i think about this. My lips grew a huge lump in the middle of my top lip and bump on my bottom lip making it look swollen and big for an unknown reason. I tried to tell my parents but they kept saying no it's fine, but after they also admit that it's really a problem because they looked much bigger then before. We showed it to a doctor and now a dermotoligist is going to send me for a lip biopsy and im really scared. And the thing im mostly worried about is in the starting of july im going to vacation for my aunts weddding. im really scared because i want my lips to be small and get all the lumps removed before i go. im extremely depressed theres 2 months left and the appointment hasn't been set yet. Im also afraid of the lip biopsy can anyone tell me whats it like and will it be fine after i get it soon?

thanks guys

Hi Sam,

Welcome to the HealingWell Depression forum. I think that the biopsy will be relatively easy. They will numb you up and probably just take some cells from your lips with a small needle. You will probably not feel a thing. Though bigger lips are the in thing right now, (I have thin lips) you probably don't like them because that is what you have. We never like what we have, that is human nature. But I think that you are doing the right thing by getting the biopsy done just to make sure that there is nothing going on. I am sure that you do look fine. But it is you living with it. So if it is unpleasant to you, then it is up to you if you want to do something about it. I hope that the biopsy goes well and that there is nothing bad going on. Is it a hard lump, or soft tissue? Just wondering.

Let us know what happens. And the results. Keep posting and know that we are all here for you.

Hugs, Karen

Hey guys, thanks for the reply it really means alot to me because im in such a depressed moment right now, all advice and help makes a huge difference.

Karen, thanks for the support. and yeh i agree with you big lips are the popular thing right now, but my problem is different. my lips look extremely swollen. Because of the huge lump in the top of my upper lip, it sticks out and looks really swollen. I used to have a natural pout in my lips, but now tht huge lump messed it all up. from the 2 sides it's fine, but in the middle it's a huge lump. Also in my bottom lip i have a lump. Theres definitly a problem, the doctors say it could be an allergy or an allergic reaction.

Also the lump is not hard, it's a soft lump and it's not discoloured or anythihng. it just looks like i was born with swollen lips because it looks all the same.

I was kind of scared because i read some posts that when people had the biopsy they had alot of pain and it wudn't go away. but i think thats probably rare.

Do you guys think the lump and everything will be fixed in 2 months time? im really worried because i want to get all this fixed before i go on the vacation.

thanks again

That I can't tell you. The doctor would be better at knowing how long it will take to get fixed. In the meantime, try to distract yourself from thinking about it. I know it is always on your mind, but if you worry too much, it will seem worse than it is. Dwelling on someting is not good.

Hi Swollenlip,

Welcome to the forum. Did you get a biopsy on your lips? Did they have any information that they could give you? I hope that everything is okay.

Keep posting.
