Hi there,

Welcome to the HealingWell Depression Forum....  You are so welcomed here.

Have you talked to a counselor about any of this?  It might be time for a visit.  I don't like talking on the phone either, so there is nothing wrong with that.  I am good at conversation is a social setting, or passing by, but not in a more personal setting, I just don't know what to say to people at times.  You could be a little nervous.

I wouldn't worry too much, but I would definately talk to a professional and see if they can help you.  Talking here helps to.  You will find out that you aren't the only one feeling this way.  It is kind of normal for depression, if you are depressed.  This could just be a phase that you are going through and it will most likely change.

Drinking usually gives us confidence, but it is really a false confidence as it losens up our inhibitions.  And it also causes us to be more depressed as it is a depressant.  So be careful there.

Keep posting and let us know how you are doing.

Take care,

Hugs, Karen

That is why you need to keep trying to get professional help. Check with your local department of human resources and try to get some counseling. Your agoraphobia can be helped. It sounds like anxiety to me. Plus depression. I will post a site for you to check out and see if it helps. I am on quick reply. I will edit this and when it comes up it will be blue.

Check this site out.  It is ablsolutely free.  I think it could help you some.  In the meantime, keep posting and let us know how you are doing.

Hugs, Karen

There are professionals that deal with agorophobia and some will come to your house initially and little by little help you get over your fear of leaving. You cannot deal with this on your own. For your sanity and your son's sake, you need to take a step forward. Like Getting By, I hate talking on the phone too. But the fear of leaving the house seems bigger than the phone fear, so maybe your first step forward is picking up the phone. I feel badly for you and I hope you link onto getting by's link
