Hello everyone :) This is my first-post here. I don't really have anyone to talk to but thanks to the internet and anonymity! I'm going to give this a try.

I feel incredibly empty, lonely and depressed. For a year or so, I've been breaking down and crying in secret almost everyday. I don't know how to handle my thoughts and emotions. Sometimes the emptiness gets so unbearable, I start to have thoughts of suicide. (Though, I won't do it because I know it's a very selfish and foolish thing to do)

I often think back about my past. I know it's not a very good thing to do but it just hits me when I least expect it. I'm unable to reconcile my past with my present. Although I have many friends at present, I know most of them keep me around for some form of benefit.

Usually work makes me feel better about everything because of school and time constraints I haven't been able to find a job with flexible hours. I also think because I hate what I'm studying, although minor, it does contribute to my depression.

Hey there =)

I totally hear where you're coming from..almost everything you said I can relate to. Have you thought of talking to a counselor? Seeing a doctor? Taking meds? All things to look into if you aren't opposed. Just speaking from experience, dwelling on your past and going back and thinking about it constantly isn't going to help the way you're feeling. I'm sure you know that and I have no advice on how to..let the past be so to speak since I'm currently trying to figure my way around that one =P

I'm sure your issue with not liking your choice of study is contributing to the way you feel too, I personally love what I'm majoring in...why not switch to a different course? I'm sure no one's going to force you to stick with a field you hate. Just a few thoughts. Sorry I can't be of more help!

depression sucks, we all know this. time for a chat with your doc. there are many teqniches to help you combat what is going on. we care and understand, so take care of you. with compassion, jamie.
