I was diagnosed with depression around a year ago. Although i was put on medication my moods have not improved and docors are relucant to prescribe me more medication because of my age (i am under 18) throughout the time i have suffered with this i have coped by  to the extent that i required hospitalisation on many occasions and also a. Over the past few months my mood has become erratic, and i have felt like i am in free-fall with no sense of control. is now becoming a serious option for me and i have no friends that i can talk to about this, my role within all of my friendships is to look after them, and i am not very good at saying what is wrong with me to people i have an emotional connection to, hence why i am here. So any advice/possible reasons for all of this would be very welcome...
thank you

Welcome 01289388 and I am sorry you feel in such a dark place right now. Especially since you are so young and it is a time when you should feel care free. Are you in any talk therapy? I think it would be beneficial. You need to come to terms with whatever it is that you feel you have no control over. I'm no medical expert but that is my idea of why people have eating disorders and do self harm. It's a way that you can feel you are in control. I'm putting you in my prayers that you find the right person who can talk to you and help you to understand things so that you will get better. You can get better- I have a good feeling that you will. Hang in there and come often so you can let things out.

thank you, for your comment :)
I see the school counsellor and am getting referred to the county mental health service, but the waiting list for that is roughly 2 months long so its going to be a while before i see anyone from there

That's a long wait- please make sure you have someone (friend, family, here...) that you can talk things over in the interim. We are not professionals but we can lend a supporting ear.
A suggestion I thought of is: look for little things that have gone right today. Just a little thing that brought a smile to your face. Sometimes when I am feeling at my lowest- I do something for someone else- like help an elderly person find something on a grocery store shelf....sometimes just something like that makes me feel better.
Hope you feel better soon!
