I don't mean chugging the bottle for harmful purposes. But if I'm supposed to take one 10mg pill and I end up taking two or three...does it just increase the effects or would it make someone physically sick?

One extra most likely will not have any serious side effects. 2 or more extra might and you should call the ER and speak to either a doctor or nurse for advice.

Too many sleeping pills could cause respiratory distress or arrest. It can also cause cardiac issues as well and what one too many is will depend on many factors including overall health, age, weight, etc.

You may not wake up. I would be very careful. If they aren't working, get something that does. There are many different sleep aids. Some over the counter. I personally meditate before bed. Fall to sleep rather quickly and stay asleep. Maybe you could try that.

Be careful...

What kind of pills are you talking about? They vary widely in strength. Someyimes I have to take another one around 2 am...3 at once is of course unadvisable but depends on what you are talkiing about.

Alot of my meds do NOTHING when I take one (ie Klonopin)

Take care

I take Ambien, and even just half a pill usually works. I just had a rough day and wanted to fall asleep quickly and stay asleep as long as possible. I wasn't really thinking straight (especially after taking the first one). I slept very late today, but considering how ugly the weather is outside and I have nothing to do today, that's not so bad.

Our weather must be like yours. We are having a snowstorm today. Wind and snow. But it actually isn't that cold. I take ambien too. But only one at night. The meditation really helps and I take a xanax too.

I hope that you feel better soon. It sounds like something depressing happened, we are here if you want to talk about it. Maybe I am wrong, but just know we are here for you.

Be careful with ambien...it can lead to sleep walking (me) sleepeating(me) and sleep driving (my husband)

I think that 2 or 3 would exacerbate the negative effects so be very careful with them.

Take care

The worst that has happened to me on Ambien is writing strange Facebook statuses that I don't remember writing. What's funny are the strange responses I get from people when I check it in the morning. I wrote half of my post last night in German. :/

I actually used to sleep walk as a kid, so I am surprised I don't do that now (or at least, I don't think I do).

Yes, yesterday was a bad day. And today I slept the entire day until I had to get up and get ready for my night class. I am taking an Herbs & Herbal Medicine course and a Nutrition course this semester...partly to defer some of my student loans to release some of the stress I'm under, but largely to help my own health. I'm looking into herbal supplements to help with sleep and depression so I can wean off the Ambien and Zoloft. So I guess I'll find out if I learned anything good in a few weeks/months.

We watched a video on how to make a valerian tincture in class Monday...do you actually feel different after taking it (other than sleepy)? Like how Ambien makes you feel drunk lol...I'd like to try making my own stuff once I learn more about it. The video even said that it smells like dirty socks so I can imagine it wouldn't taste much better.
