Hello everyone...i don't know if there's a post on this, but has anyone ever tried the St. John's Wort? If so, has it been effective? I've been perscribed to take Lexapro, but i'm just so afraid to take medication. And i've heard that st.johns wart can work also. Thanks for any input!

I haven't tried it but please be extremely careful with herbals. I was taking aloe vera juice (ok, how more natural can you get???) and my doctor got really upset with me because I didn't tell him first and turns out it has an interaction with steroid type meds which I take for my allergies. Even though these herbal meds are available OTC, I would still clear them with your doc (especially if you take other meds). :)

Hi melodiq_mz,

I have tried St. John's Wort with VERY limited success. I found that it would make me feel relaxed but only for a very short period, maybe 6 hours or so. Then after about a week or two I would get no benefit at all. I understand that it may be effective for people who have mild depression and that's about it.

Thank you for that! I see that it generally has not many results. Thanks
