Hi Everyone,
I have never done anything like this and quite frankly it's kind of scary putting yourself out there in cyberspace!
I am 48, married and have 2 grown children. I have been depressed most of my life but they have only recently "diagnosed" me. My brother was killed by a drunk driver whe I was 11 and I lost a 3 day old baby. My family tries to be supportive but they don't really know how. My husband (who is my high school sweetheart!) just wants to fix everything. They try to be patient but they don't really understand and I know they are tired of my sadness. I lock myself up in my room for days at a time so I don't have to "burden" anyone with my problems. Anyway, I have been visiting this forum for about a month, trying to get the courage to join. Everyone here seems so caring. So, that's me. I don't know how often I will have the courage to post so please don't think I'm not reading and caring. I know this was quite a ramble, sorry about thatt. Thanks for reading.

Hi Sadsunshine and welcome :-)

I'm married and have 2 teenagers and also suffer from depression. It gets espacially bad in the winter when the sunshine is limited where I live.

Wow sunshine, loosing a brother and a child is very traumatic. One of my brothers died so I can identify with you on that one but the child I can't even imagine (((hugs for you))).

Do you have a good friend to hang out with and go for coffee? Have you talked to your dr. about this? Do you think you are to the point where you need anti-depressants? Sorry for the 30 questions but I'm just trying to figure out how to best help you. We're here to listen so please post again. Hope the rest of your day goes well :-)
Take care, Softy

Thanks Softy,
I am currently taking 150mg of Wellbutrin XL in the morning to wake me up (doesn't help) and 100 mg of Zoloft at bedtime. I also pop a Tylenol p.m!!I am seeing a counselor. So far nothing has helped. I have up days but those are becoming few and far between. I see the doc. tomorrow, my "talking doc." thinks I need my meds adjusted. I have been an elementary school teacher for the past 14 years but this is my first year not working. I have lots of friends at school that I keep in touch with but lately I haven't felt like doing anything. I'm hoping to make new friends here to talk to.
Thanks for replying so quickly, makes me feel better to know someone is out there listening. (( Hugs back atcha ))

Hi again. Glad you're getting your meds adjusted. That seems like alot of different ones to me when one or two at the most should be doing the job.

I have to ask, are you having trouble adjusting to "who you are" now that you're not working? Are you an empty nester? Do you have any hobbies?

I'm going away for a week so I'll look for your posts when I get back :-)
Until then, take care of yourself, you deserve it.
Take care, Softy

Oops . . . I see you answered my earlier questions already.

I hope you'll consider allowing the docs to switch or tweek your meds. There are lots of combinations and the only way to know what will help is to allow a qualified doc to keep trying. Lots of us have switched meds many times. It can be a trial and error thing.

Let us know how your doc appt goes.

Blessings!
