Enlyte - Methylfolate and Vitamin D - DNA testing

Hello everyone! I'm new here but wanted some feedback. My psych asked me if I wanted to take a DNA test, it was just a cheek swab and you mail it to thier lab. Well the test said I am severely deficient by 55% of methylfolate. Also showed that I wouldn't be likely to gain weight from antidepressants, medication metabolism, things like that. The lab even suggested Deplin or Enlyte. I have been taking vitamin D (blood work showed slight deficiency) for 2 weeks and have already felt better. I have been also taking methylfolate for the same period of time but it is a fraction of the dose in the prescription.

Does anyone have any experiences with Enlyte? Or folate supplementation at all? Thank you!

Welcome to the forum Jillian...

I don't have any experience with Enlyte or Folate. But I have been taking the vitamin D3 for a long time. I know it helps because if I forget to take it, I notice. I hope you find what works well for you.

the best vit d is natural sunlight. i did a self study and evidenced from 2 3 months of blood tests, the shocking truth is that what ya get in the bottle is nowhere close to the increase i got from 15-20 mins of a sun a day. the bottle increments were like 2 to 3 percent, i was outraged, thesun route, 30 -40 percent increases, now in normal ranges. i was very low in d. welcome.

I do have a tanning contract at a salon so maybe I ought to utilize it more! Thank you

Welcome Jim,

Jill, 10 min sitting in the sun is all that is needed every other day. I sit out back in am, coffee and a crossword puzzle.

I am doubtful, that is just me from research I have done, that tanning beds are healthy.

I do take D3 each day in addition to 10min outside because I have CPTSD and other stuff that is rough for me.

The DNA test sounds interesting. How much was the cost. Did Insurance cover it. Is the psych. a specialist in this area?

I do the tanning bed very minimally but try to get outside as much as possible.

The DNA test was covered by my insurance! It was some lab in California. The psych is just a regular psych in my area and she ordered it along with a standard blood test. Thank you so much for your feedback!
