I want to wish everybody a safe and happy 4th of July. I hope you all have a good weekend and a good holiday. I hope you all have safe travels and that the fire works don't become a bummer for anybody. I myself don't like them because of my dog getting so afraid. It is a big ordeal for me because I have to try to keep her calm. I tried tranquilizers but that didn't work right. I got her a thunder shirt and it helps. But I have to sit with her, keep her calm and reassure her that it will come to an end. So no, I don't like them. They are pretty but too much noise. She is even afraid of ones real far away. Though I do have to say that the thunder shirt is helping to calm her.

Our neighbors warned me that they will be doing fire works. I can't wait until the 4th is over.

But for everybody else, enjoy!!! Stay safe...

Hugs, Karen...

Just home from therapy, neighbor in next cul de sac, "practicing" him M80's? The loud booms?

Dogs are under pillows on the bedroom, looks like for the duration.
Matrial law for walks, the will no go out back.
I am starting to really NOT like this holiday. Each boom, sends my head thru a meat tenderI zing machine.
May they NEVER know this pain.

Why, oh why, do we 'celebrate' independence with sounds of war?

My dog doesn't even like the sound of one of the cats running across the roof!

Luckily, she is very food motivated. Baby carrots, chunks of watermelon, doggie treats, all have helped us through fireworks and thunderstorms.

Now, there are signs that war veterans can place in the yard or in a window that say that a war veteran lives here, please be courteous with fireworks as they can cause flashbacks. Maybe it's time with come up with signs for skittish dogs.

The only legal fireworks in New Jersey are now...sparklers, poppers and snappers. It's frustrating when people go to another state to purchase others for their own 'enjoyment' that put people in pain or other hardship. A bottle rocket nearly blinded my grandson one year, set off by someone in the neighborhood behind our trailer park. I've found spent ones on my roof! So dangerous!

Why can't we just have parades and cook outs and be grateful for peace?

Anyway, I hope it turns out well for everyone here, however you celebrate the Fourth of July or if it's just 'another day' for you...enjoy it!

I agree Pitmom. There needs to be a sign for skittish dogs. They weren't legal here until a few years ago. That was nice, but yes, many would drive to the next state to get them. but then they would run out. Now you just go back to the store and get more. I hear that they are expensive.

Too many nights of it though. Tonight and tomorrow night yet. The thunder shirt helps though.

I hope you are feeling well and having a good day.
