Has anyone here every tried online therapy? I see that it is much cheaper than office visits, plus I travel for my job. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.. Marqi

I have never tried it. Would you skype with the therapist? If there is a real person there, it would be worth it, I would think.

Let us know if you do and how it goes. I hope you get some positive responses.

yep. but only with a qualified person. i do skype with me shrink. very convenient and usually you can slot a spot with there calendar. watch out for phonnies. seek input from a medical centre or local mental health centre. i was not a fan but if ya struggling, send quick message and bam.

Thanks for the replies.
I signed up with betterhelp.com. I have been assigned a person who I have started chatting with. The good thing is that I can cancel anytime I want to. I'll keep posting here about how it's going.

Gosh I would give anything to have some happy feelings again.
Lately just getting out of bed is a struggle. I have a few Xanax from an old prescription that I took a couple of years back when I was having anxiety, and trouble sleeping. It really does work to calm me, but I don't have much, and my new Dr. (Since my old one went to a different practice) won't subscribe it at all. She gave me sertraline which I took for 2 months, but seemed to only make me feel worse. I'd rather struggle with nothing. When taking that I could not sleep or eat at all. I lost about 10 lbs. I am already thin, so I felt skinny and ugly. I've gained some weight back now due to the Xanax that I am taking sparingly. I take a piece of one and get my appetite back. I'm still hoping it's just a faze I am going through like the last time a couple of years ago. I think it lasted about 6 months or so then. This time it seems to be a little more intense.
It's nice to have a place to come and get things off of my chest. Thanks to anyone who listens.

I took ambien for sleep and Xanax for anxiety. I have stopped both though I have a stash too if I Need them badly.

I started doing meditation to go to sleep. It really helps. Also there is melatonin. It helps a lot. It is a hormone. And we lose a lot of it as we age. You can get up to 10 mg of it but most people start at about 3mg. My husband takes it for sleep. I think that he takes it a few hours before he goes to bed.

There is always sleep hygiene. Like no reading before bed, dim the lights, no television. And on and on. Rituals help too. We have a lot more control over our minds and bodies than we think. Maybe a nice soothing bath before bed...

I hope you find what helps you. Another one my husband use to take is trazadone. It is an antidepressant too that he took at bedtime. It makes you sleepy and so does remeron.

I hope you feel better soon. I hope you can be happy. Little things make me happy, I am lucky.

Hugs, Karen...

Thanks TheH.. I have called a ton of places including mental health here in town. I ended up seein a local psychologist who normally charges $250. A visit. She took me for $100. I had 3 visits, but at that rate I cannot afford to keep going. I'm off work for a bit to try and get back on track. So far the online therapist has responded in a timely manner to each of my messages. There is no Skype with this service, but it is not going to break my bank either.

Thanks Karen, I will try the things you suggested. I think I have some melatonin here somewhere.
I know you are right about us having the ability to control our minds. I'm sure I will figure it out in time. Last year at this time everything was fine, and I was sleeping well on my own, so I know it is possible.
