Hi Twinky,  Cute name, I like it :-)

I promise not to tell you my whole life story (ha)... but I'm almost 53 and have been told that I should write my biography before I croke, about what life's been with me, but I will tell you, that having been around almost every block, in the study and experiences of mental things (to put it simpley), I'd have to say, IMO only, find a nice counselor before you try anything else.

There are things they can pin point from your life, that would cause a negative view of life, that you are not consciously aware of.

If your family Dr. says it's not related to some physical illness, that is the way I would go first off.

If a counselor thinks you need a psychologist, they will tell you ... and if the psychologist and your physician feel you need some sort of medicine, they'll send you to a psychiatrist.

But, hope for the least first and you'd be surprised how much just "talking to somebody" can help.

I heard a panel of psychiatrists speaking once at a conference, and they said some things about their own profession that I won't post here and now, but one thing I can tell you that they did say was, "People do just as well if not better, just talking to a close friend, then with us."

Of course that doesn't go for the real psychotic cases, I'm sure, but for those with depression, and milder things like that, I know from my own experience with my dearest friends, that's true.  And they listen without me having to pay them to.

I wish the best for you Twinky.  You're young and hope you can start making happy memories for yourself in the near future.

I hope you'll benefit from being here as I have.

I look at the whole index page for a few minutes each day and at all the horrible diseases that these poor people have, and I realise how minimal mine are in comparison.  That has helped  my attitude most of all.  My heart goes out to them, while I read their posts.

Here's the list I look at ...

AIDS, ALZHEIMERS, BREAST CANCER, CROHN'S DISEASE, CYSTIC FIBROSIS, DIABETES, EPILEPSY, HEART DISEASE, HEPATITIS, M.S., OSTOMIES, PARKINSONS, PROSTRATE CANCER AND ULCERATIVE COLITIS.

These are the people's posts that I've read that have helped me the most since I've been here, because I don't have any of those diseases and yet I  see them "hanging in there" and keeping on.  God bless them.

And God Bless you too dear Twinky.  Hope you find help here too and where you live and never forget to be a silly kid inside, even in old age.

Hugs,

Ann

Hi Twinky,  I wanted to tell you welcome to Healing Well.  You will find some caring supportive people here.  When reading your post, it reminded me of my teen years and how I wouldn't go back there for anything in the world.  I don't think that you would find many people in their 30's and above that would redo their teenage years.  It is a difficult time and your body and hormones are changing that makes a big difference.  I am not minimize what you are feeling by any means.  Counseling is always a good advice but it can be expensive.  Did something happen to make you feel this way?  Parents, friends, or something at school? ~elisha
