Hi guys-

I usually post at the Ulcerative Colitis section of this forum but I validity to post here as well because I do suffer from depression and am on 150 mg of wellbutrin (thank god for the no sexual side effects).

Anyways in some cases (I have no website to back this up because I cant find it at the moment) but depression could be linked to diet.  FOr instance if you are gluten, dairy, soy , yeast, and/or egg intollerant then that could magnify your depression.  I am awaiting test results to determine if I am anything intollerant then if I am I will modify my diet accordingly.  Intollerances are also believed by some to be an underlying caus of some forms of colitis (inflammation in the colon).  For instance by eliminating gluten many with Miscroscopic colitis find great relief from their symptoms (including depression and anxiety).

Has anyone had experience with diet and depression?  I know this may sound way out in left field but what if it can help?
Is it UC or MC?
Asacol... 2 tabs 2 times daily
Entocort EC 9mg
Rowasa enemas- never really sat well with me
VSL#3 probiotic-1-2 packets a day
Compazine 10 mg as needed
Wellbutrin 150 mg Ativan .5 mg as needed

I don't know about diet helping depression, but I know that a bad diet can make it worse, or at least it does for me. I find that I feel even more disgusting if I don't take proper care of myself and don't eat enough, or if I eat too much junk food. But that is probably partially due to the fact that I am a health nut. I can't stand the idea of filling my body with junk food (chocolate cake is okay though, ehhe).

yeah I agree with the chocolate cake,  I have had 2 mini frozen Snickers for breakfast while I have been on the computer this morning.  Great diet huh?  I dont really get into all that diet stuff.  There is so much floating out there regarding diets and differant dieases.  I have Multiple Sclerosis also and just diagnosed with Multiple System Atrophy.  Never has any of my physicians said if you eat this type of diet you will be cured or minimize the effects of your diease.  I usually eat a balance of low carb and low fat diet and weight 135 pounds.  If it can help great, but in the mean time I want to eat what makes me happy.
