I wanted to know if anyone has had any experience with this drug.  I am currently on 30-40mg. of prozac. I increase the week or so before my period as I have found that i get really depressed then. My gyn suggested it. But... it is NOT helping.   I really can't decide whether this is true depression or just plain feeling lousy which brings me down.  I also have crohns disease and I have found out that I am really anemic.
My shrink spoke to me about Cymbalta but I am reluctant.

Has anyone tried it?  Any side effects?  Weight gain? etc
Any response would be great!

I tried it and didn't really notice any change in symptoms.  Of course, everyone is different.  I'm currently on Remeron (mirtazapine.)  It is helping, espcially in the sleep department, but I have gained about 20lbs on it.  I hope that you can find something that works for you.

Prof and Jon, I am on Cymbalta now for 9 months. I am very pleased with it. I was near hospitalization when Psych tried it. Unbelievable I felt better after only 3 days. I started on 30mg and with increases i now take 120mg daily. Of course the Katrina factor has to be figured in there. But of course, I take a few others to help out, such as Wellbutrin, Trazadone, Lunesta, Lyrica. Lyrica was given to me for nerve damage in a crushed wrist recently. This also helps emensely with Fibromyalgia pain which in turn helps with my depression.
I wish for the best to both of you and may God bless!

I took Cymbalta for a time, no major side effects, but I honestly didn't notice anything different in my life. I decided to stop it, and nothing really changed for me. One thing I want to mention though, is that I did get up 60mg to feel something, and it caused my anxiety to increase, so I backed down to 40mg, then 30mg, and then I went down to 20mg and then stopped.
This was just my experience though. My mother has been taking it for over a year at 90mg and it is helping her tremendously.
Blessings, Mary-Anne

Mary-Anne, thanks for the info. No wonder i have aggitation going on here. Last night coming home from Mardi Gras parade I was cussing and fussing those tyrant or drunk drivers while hubby was driving.(not a drinker) A discussion came up with my hubby & daughter that I sure was very nervous lately (cussing and fussing, not my style). So the high dose of Cymbalta may be the culprit. Oh well, I am feeling more of an even keel and not crying constantly, so they will just have to deal with me....lol
Thanks again! Have a blessed day!!!
