Prozac worked great for years.
Zoloft just gave me the tired blahhhhs
on Celexa for two days but all I hear is tiredness and weight gain.
I need energy and to lose weight.
Anything out there that does that and is anti depressant.

Hi Godsgirl! Welcome to HW.

Luvox (Fluvoxamine) is the latest and best antidepressant according to my doctor. Was on it before they switched me to prozac as the hospital ran out of stock for Luvox (the entire state seems to have the same problem so cannot get from any pharmacy either). It was ok but only at the beginning just like the other that i've been prescribed with. But as we all know the result might be different for different person.

Sorry i don't help much. wish u good luck n all the best!

Hmmm, actually Cymbalta is the newest antidepressant on the market.  Luvox has been out since the early 1990's, each physician is going to have their own opinion regarding which antidepressant works best.

If you are looking for energy and to lose weight I wouldn't suggest looking for it in an antidepressant.  Practice a healthy lifestyle and drink plenty of water will get you on the right track.  In the mean time you physician should be able to recommend a antidepressant that is appropriate for you.

Paxil worked to get me out a depression but it is not an energizing a/d. When my doctor added some wellbutrin to the paxil I was on,,i began to feel like a million bucks. It gave me the clear head I wanted and reversed the adverse sexual side effects of paxil. I exercised a lot and watched my diet.

Unfortunately I decided I could do without meds and am in a downslide at the moment , starting remeron ( not recommended for losing weight !)

All the best to you
Kara

I wish I could help, but I am in the same boat as you. I took Prozac for several years and at first it was great. Then the effect wore off. My doctor switched me to Lexapro, first 10 mg. and now 20 mg. I can't say it is helping. Plus I am really gaining weight and am so very tired!

hi there godsgirl,

do you have mania epsodes and depresion epsodes? if so you might be bi-polar.

i started on efexor with debakin, a treatment for deppresion. it made me loose my memory a little. then i took serquel it made me sleep long times , then zeldox replaced serquel i felt anxity, then i droped zeldox and i started having trouble sleeping so perscribed xanax, finaly i was diagnosed with bi-polar

I take now: weberton, lamictal, efexor, lithiom, akidole, abdfly ( sorry there is spelling mistakes )
i'm loosing my memory, still have trouble sleeping i sleep too little now that i got back to work. lower than usual appetite.

hang in there, determination helps. excersize is very important keep in touch with your friends even if u dont feel like it. i wish you the best good luck

Hi Hope42Day,  I wanted to welcome you to Healing Well forum.  We are happy to have you.
Weight gain is a common side effect of all of the antidepressants unfortunately.  I also experienced some weight issues with the antidepressants I have been on over the years and noticed a 10-15 pound difference between going on and off these type of meds.   If you are gaining a bunch of weight that is not going to help your depression any and neither is fatigue...I would suggest you call your doctor and see about switching to something else.  Take care ~ Elisha

Hi there, I was having the same issues as you recenly. Severe fatigue and exhaustion that felt like I couldnt even roll over in bed let alone function normally. Also dizzyspells, major brain fog, and memory loss.
This came after a bad stressful time in my life right now, but pretty suddenly so I didnt think it was depression. My doctor told me otherwise..I tried everything natural I could along with exercise but no help at all.
I started taking Lexapro 5mg 4 days ago and already have more energy. My fog is lifted somewhat but I still have confusion and memory loss. I dont know how these things go hand in hand with the way our brain works but its very frusterating and scary.
I was on Paxil for 4 or 5 years and would get tired from it alot of times.
