Today, I was at a person's front door and they had a do-it-yourself fountain/pond with lovely landscaping around it. I happened to notice that there was a lizard floating around on it's back. It was about 7-8 inches long and had a red head with a beige body. I felt sad to know the poor little guy had apparently slipped and drowned. As I watched him being pushed along by the ripples that the fountain made, I saw his leg move!!! I immediately ran over and picked him up out of the water and sat him on the ground. I was a little leery as I didn't know if he would bite, but I couldn't just let him drown either! He was still sitting in the same spot when I left, but his eyes were open and he was breathing. I think he was just needing time to recuperate from his ordeal! He was probably having PTSD!!! tongue
I felt really good as I walked away...I'm the sort that can't even vacuum up a bug or squash a spider! It really bothers me to kill anything and I do what I can to save animals if I see them in a bad way. I have no qualms about calling the humane society or animal control if I think an animal is being mistreated. I don't understand how some people can be so hateful and cruel. I know that they'll reap what they sow one day...!!

Janet,  Kudos to you!! yeah   You saved a little lizards life that great!!  I usually see a few around here but havent yet this sping/summer...I wonder if its cause of the heat.  I have been having a difficult time on my morning walks since I have to side step all the little rolly pollys that are on the side walk and pavement.  You are great and should be proud. tongue

Jannet, thats very nice of you to do that.. I remember i used to follow lizards to scare them , but never to kill them i was just playing :P i don't about spiders, if i see them in the house i usually ignore them. but cocoroches must be killed! they are so dirty lol ( they live in the suwige ) so i kill those, if they run under something i still try to kill them by pifpuf. as a kid i used to love killing ants, now i look back and feel sorry i killed so many of them :(

i know some people who were very cruel to cats, they would cut their tail :( i can't beleave someone could do that , cats are so cute and harmelss.
