For the past months ive been feeling really sad and thinkin things will never be going well for me. I just finished my tenth grade year and my grades were awful, but only for math and history. I knew i could have done better in all my class but i just couldnt motivate myself not matter how much i wanted to, i just wasnt able to do it. I have tremendious problems concentrating and i just dont know why. Ive also been putting myself down by tellin myself that Ill never be as good as so and so in lacrosse...i suck...im never gunna be a pshycologist...and so on and so forth.  sad  I was having a conversation on the phone with my boyfriend and he mentioned that he has seen a change in me and that ive been "grumpy" "emotional" or "moody" lately and he was afraid that i was facing depression. Once he said that, i thought that he might have been right, but i also though..Me? depressed? Never!...but they way ive been feeling lately...i think i am depressed. confused   I just wanted to know if anyone is out that there willing to help and talk to me so i can figure out what it really going on with me.

Hi Kerbe. I really don't know what to tell you. Not sure if this is "normal" teenage stuff or more. I know somewhere either on this site or another is a depression quiz to determine where you're at. Almost sounds like self esteem issues (the putting yourself down). Do you have a parent or counsellor you could talk to about this that knows what you're normally like? Do you agree with your boyfriend? Do you think somethings up with you? My depression presented in an undeniable manner so I can't use my experience to help you.

Also Kerbe, give people a bit of time to answer. Some may be off to bed (it's 11 pm here) and it is summer :-) It's definitely not because people don't care.

Post again Kerbe and let us know how you're doing.
Take care, Softy

Hi, Kerbe!
Welcome!
It would be good to talk to your guidance counselor at school about this. If you can talk about this with your parents, that would be good. There's a number of reasons why you may be having these problems and so a good check-up would be a nice start. Sometimes, being females, we get hormonal changes that effect the way we feel and as a teenager, it can be even worse. Whatever the case, you do need to talk to someone. Keep posting!

Kerbe, please do talk to your parents about this. In 10th grade my daughter(top honor student) started wanting to quit school. She was very moody and argumentive. I took her to our family Dr, he sent her to a psych Dr. She is now taking Lexapro and Wellbutrin and doing much better. She finished 3rd in her class and now in her 3rd yr of college. She keeps changing her mind of what she wants to do. After going through all pre reqs and being accepted to Nursing school, she called me from Summer school to tell me that she doesn't want to be a nurse. I found out that she had been taking her meds sporaticly. So now my hubby and I see to it that she takes it daily. Well the fact the she just go engaged may have alot to her scattered brains. Poor kid, she was doomed with depression, her deceased dad suffered with it as well as myself. Talk to your parents and there may be a simple solution to your feelings. Keep your head up, kiddo!! Be blessed!

Thanks everyone for the advice. Lol sry softy I just really wanted to hear something soon, but my mom has noticed something with me but she just says that im doing drugs and just messing around in the street, and i did take a quiz and it says that i have moderate/severe depression, but i didnt think i was that bad. I kind of agree with my bf cuz i have been very irritable lately. I defenetly dont think its bordem because I am always out the house working as a counciler for a lacrosse camp for the summer and on the weekends I am either hanging out with my bf and friends or trying to catch up on some sleep and these things keep my mind off of how im feeling for a while. I really hope its just me overwhelmed with so much on my mind or just going through that teenage stage.
