Can anyone help with medication isssues?  I have tried almost everything I have severe depression and panic attacks.  I am allergic to several meds getting hives with them and others just make me into a zombie unable to function even at a quarter of the dose.  Some meds keep me up 24/7 even at a quarter of the dose.  I have tried several times and cannot find anything to help.  I have been to 7 doctors and I need help.  The meds I have tried are paxil, prozac, zoloft, deseryl, remeron.lexapro.  There are others I cannot remember them all right now.  Some meds like wellbutrin docs will not prescribe because it could make me more panicky.  Has anyone else had these problems?  Currently and for the last 7 years I have taken ativan and a sleeping pill at night.  Any help is appreciated.  Thanks

Hi Wooby,

Welcome to HW!

Well, when it comes right down to it, only a doctor can really advise you on this, though I have heard of a new form of med which might work better with you because it's not in pill form: it's the Ensam patch, and someone on this board is about to try it. It's an MAOI, rather than an SSRI, and those often work very well for people who have real problems with SSRIs. It's pretty new, but something you might discuss with a doc.

The other thing that I wondered is what type of docs you've been seeing -- regular docs or psychiatrists. Notmally mental health specialists are *much* better at dealing with cases like this.

All best to you,
Rosie x

Thanks for the suggestion.  I will look in to it.  I have been to Psychiatrists, even a Psychiatric pharmacologist.  I went to a doc who specialized in geriatric Psychiatry (I am early forties) because elderly people have more adverse affects to meds, it was thought that perhaps I could be helped.  So far I have been unable to tolerate any meds.

Hi Wooby,

The previous thread mentioning this is at http://www.healingwell.com/community/default.aspx?f=19&m=584376, and the one before that is given as a link there. Hope this gives you some extra info!

I'm glad you've been seeing pdocs rather than regular docs. Maybe you can prompt them about the Ensam patch and see what they have to say. Strikes me it'd be worth a shot.

Best,

Rosie x
