Katie I am sorry but I have edited out your  e-mail address from your post.  This is just not safe to do with posting so much information about yourself.  If you do want other members to contact you then you can add your address to your profile by going into the Control Panel next to Log Off on the blue bar then go into Edit my Profile and add it from there.  Thank you ~ Elisha

Katie
do you live with your mom? Will your dad be there for you while you are in treatment?
My son who is now 16 has bi-polar and Adhd. He was bad for awhile, going as far as taking a baseball bat and trying to hit me,all because I woke him up for school. Now,he has his own car,has a good job,and his getting straight A"s in school. He started different meds, and found a great counsler. So,there is light at the end of the tunnel my friend. I never thought I would see him at this stage in life,I quite frankly thought he would be in juvi before he was 15.
The morning of the baseball bat,I took him to the hospital because I was scared of him. I had to watch them strap my son down to a bed,and take him to a treatment center. Then I had to go see him everyday for a week and listen and watch him cry for me to take him home. the night he got home,he was so angry that I had put him there that he held me down and tried to strangle me.
It was bad,and it could have gotten worse. But Thank God it didn't.
Please do not give up hope, talk to the doctor, see if they can force your mom to be there...you need someone.

Hi Katie!

I think that you should read this book. www.amazon.com/Hypothyroidism-Type-Mark-M-D-Starr/dp/0975262408

You can read it while you are getting treatment...and if you want you can read the section that relates to you first. This book talks about mental disorders. We don't realize how much our hormones can effect our entire body.

Doctors have found a correlation between mental disorders and thyroid function...and they are still debating on whether or not they want to treat patients with depression with thyroid hormones, because many depressed people have low thyroid funtion...and most of them don't even know it.

I'll look through my book and find where it talks about mental disorders...and I'll tell you exactly what it says.

Also, while in treatment ask them to check your hormone levels...with the saliva or blood spot test.

Hi Tru, thank you for popping into the depression forum.  I have had to edit your signature as it is too long.  Please see forum rule #19 which indicates that signatures need to be 10 lines or less.  Thank you ~ Elisha http://www.healingwell.com/community/default.aspx?f=46&m=106997

Hi Katie - I am praying for you. Come back and tell us how you are doing. Did you go to the treatment hospital? I'm so proud of you. That takes a lot of courage. You are going to be okay. What city/State do you live? Do you have someone who can take you to the center and visit you?

Hang in there Katie, keep trying to get the help you deserve and don't give up.
We can respond to irritation with a smile instead of scowl, or by giving warm praise instead of icy indifference. By our being understanding instead of abrupt, others, in turn, may decide to hold on a little longer rather than to give way. Love, patience, and meekness can be just as contagious as rudeness and crudeness.

Nice to hear from you Katie, but I was slightly alarmed when you posted out your contact information for everyone to see. This is a public, open forum, and as such has a chance to attract the scum that is online predators. Im not advocating being paranoid, but maybe think twice before telling your name, age, gender and giving a contact name. Besides that, its nice to hear from you. This place is a release whn you have no other ones, and it might help to hear from people in similiar straights. Good luck kid.
