Well, today mom and I saw the psychiatrist for the first time, nice guy. First it was just him and mom and then they called me up in the room to discuss meds. At first he wanted to know everything that she was taking and things she tried in the past, I guess she couldn't remember. She didn't seem to into the visit, but she's really down and it's getting worse by the day. I know that she hates the way she feels and she also hates the way she looks since she lost so much weight. He took her off the Wellbutrin and put her on Trazadone to start off with to take at night and said it will help her sleep too since she's not sleeping right either. Don't know much about it so just wondering if anyone had any thoughts on it? Also gave her Xanax for the anxiety. She's still seeing the psychologist once a week too.
We go back to this guy in 2 weeks and take it from there I guess. I have to be honest and say that he did seem concerned that more or less she is giving up her will to live. I don't know if she can or wants to fight this anymore and I think he caught on by the way he was looking at me. I'm scared for her and I'm feeling guilty like I'm not doing enough but I don't know what else can be done, I really don't...
Thanks once again for any advice and listening to me complain.

Hang in there Dee and don't you or allow your mom to give up. It might take sometime to get the meds just right but by seeing a Psyciartist it allows him to put both talk therapy and med therapy into play. I know that the combo of both therapy treatments worked wonders for me. Good luck and I hope you find the answers you are looking for.
We can respond to irritation with a smile instead of scowl, or by giving warm praise instead of icy indifference. By our being understanding instead of abrupt, others, in turn, may decide to hold on a little longer rather than to give way. Love, patience, and meekness can be just as contagious as rudeness and crudeness.

Hi Dee, that's great that you got your Mom to the appointment. Please keep in mind that medicine is only half of the answer. She should be seeing a psychologist every week. Please encourage her to do this. Also, Trazadone seems to help so many people. I had extreme difficulty sleeping too and tried Trazadone but I had an allergice reaction to it. Hopefully others will post too. Take care of YOU and Mom.

Thank you both for responding. As of right now, she is seeing a psychologist once a week as you said so thats a good thing. She didn't start the Trazodone yet, she's afraid. But she will over the weekend. She's had so many bad reactions to so many drugs I think thats why. She's off the Wellbutrin right now and still taking Restoril for sleep. I'm trying to fly my brother home for a few days to maybe put a smile on her face since she hasn't seen him in about a year, but I don't know if it's gonna work. Still looking for answers, maybe I'll find then one day...
