If you think you could benefit from ECT could your psychcriatrist deny giving you the treatment, because of the last resort policy? Or as the patient do you have a right to a treatment you want to try?

A patient can't force a medical provider to authorize any treatment they don't feel is appropriate for that particular patient.  You can state your case with as much information/documentation as you can find, but your doctor isn't obligated to approve something just because you can request it.  You can always try another doctor, but there's less of a chance of getting them to agree with you because you are new to them and don't know your history as well.  All you can do is try if you feel strongly enough about it.
