Hi, What a rough day it's been.  I went to the doctors this afternoon and she immediately put me on Cymbalta.  Does any one know how this works.  I'm scared to try it.  I have never been on meds before.  Hopefully this will help me cope with my husband.  My doctor said that this is only a band-aid and that of course my problems are not going to go away unless I leave him altogether.  I'm so alone and in that deep dark hole.  I hope maybe being medicated it will help me see light.  Can you give any advise on this med.

While I'm not on Cymbalta, I know a few people who are...and it seems to work just fine for them. I, myself, am on 100 mg of Zoloft -- and it IS an enormous help with depression. However, your doctor was right, honey, when she said it was a band-aid of sorts...medication can give you an initial boost out of that dark pit, but you've got to take a stand and help yourself, too. Have you thought about seeing a counselor or therapist? Usually, a combination of medication and therapy is prescribed to help get depression under control...and then to help teach the depressee about positive thought patterns, inner strengths, etc.

Let us know how things go, lovely. I'm rooting for you!

Remember this, the meds will take the "sting" off,but in order to get better you have to change the enviroment you live in. Meaning, meds are not going to help you if your still in a bad enviroment...they will take the sting off of a situation, and make you calmer.. But in the long run you will just be increasing your meds as the situation becomes unbearable. I am not trying to be the bearer of bad news here,I just know how the road turns.
By the time I finally left my ex,I was on 4 different types of meds.
You need to get in to see a counsler, and then hopefully you can get him in too... Remember you did not create him,and it is not your fault that he is the way he is.
