hey everybody,

i'm starting to step down my meds, and i'm very nervous. here at school, there's not much of a support system if i need a counselor to talk to. any other college students here? my campus doesn't offer much in terms of student groups or anything to help me through things. just wanted to see what advice/strategies you guys have.

thanks,
elise

I'm 21 and have withdrawn from college 3 times. I really really want to get back into nursing school, so i'm working on getting through that.
Your school should have some type of counciling program, ask the dean of students, or school nurse.
Also, you may need to seek private practice therapy somewhere near your school if the school doesn't offer anything.
try to find somoething to be involved it. I was on the Student Activities Council and they became my family.
But obviously, your doing better than i did, because your still there. Be proud of that.
I wish you the best!

I wish you the best, too! I'm 21 and currently finishing up the first semester of my junior year. I was diagnosed with depression just this year, but I've been suffering from it for almost half a decade. Ugh. Do make sure to check into your school's student health program to see if they offer counseling -- mine does, and it's free :) If nothing else, honey, we're here for you! I can commiserate with them best of them when it comes to college life. ;D

Hello amarafay

Welcome to healing well

Most colleges do have some sort of support network and offer counselling for students.  If not, can you talk to your tutor about this?

Are there any clubs or activites outside of your college?  When I was at college I joined a local yoga class down the road from where I was living and met a few people there who I became friends with.

I know being at college is a difficult time.  Please post when you feel you need a chat, we are always here to listen and help where we can.

Take care

Hi amarafry :-)   Im a college student too. I am 21 years old and graduating in May (talk about adding onto anxiety). I was daignosed with depression and anxiety in June and was doing well for a while, but lately I've been doing worse. I can relate to how you feel with depression in college, it sucks. I hope you are feeling better let me know if you ever want to talk :)
