Has anyone found a sleep med that works for them besides lunesta, ambien, or amnytriptylne?

If you find one, let me know. I take ambien 10mg AND ativan everynight, and don't fall asleep till 4-6 am. it drives me crazy. and when I do go to sleep, I dream all night. Also, witht he ambien, I will wake up with food wrappers on the floor, or will have taken something and not know it. That scares me a little, but i've been on it for 2 years, and if I don't take it, I don't sleep for days.
i have had someone on the anxiety page suggest trazadone. I don't know anything about the med. but they said it worked for them.

sorry you too can't sleep. I hope you rest tonight.

I've been taking half of Xanax (.25) and half of ambien (5mg).  Sometimes I just take a whole ambien.  It's hard to combat a disease without a full night of sleep.

It takes me at least an hour to fall asleep every single night.  I work out 5 times a week, don't really eat junk food and walk 3 miles everyday.  I'm trying to do everything to make it easier to fall asleep.  Then when I do go to sleep I wake up 7-10 times everynight.  I think I'm going to go to the sleep clinic very soon.  Trying to battle depression is bad enough on its own but worse when you can't get a full night sleep.  I've tried Ambien CR.  I was even up to 2 pills a night.  That didn't help at all.  I'm up to a dose on amnitryptaline that is almost never prescribed (150mgs.)  I think the next step is going to be a narcotic like valium but I'm not crazy about taking that every night.  Any other suggestions?

Hi Theron, I have the same problem but notice it get's worse if I have artificial sweetners, caffiene, tomato or MSG in the day.  I occasionally take valium (twice a week) just to get a restful night without the crazy dreams that leave me exhausted and the waking up every 20 minutes! Yech! I'm not big on taking valium more than twice a week but it's all that helps even if I've been to the gym for two hours solid everyday.  Hope you sleep better tonight.

I take 30mg of Restoril at night which helps me sleep.  I have severe muscle spasms from MS and Restoril has been the only thing that has been effective for me.  Of course it is a Benzo so it can be addictive....
