Hi Everyone..........

I need help.  I have recently been hospitalized and releaserd for major depression. I feel like I am regressing.  I am trying to find support groups and advise.  I know now that I must fight this everyday but I do not feel like I know how or that I have the right tools.

Hi levon, Welcome to healing well forum, we are glad to have you join us here.  Sometimes after a hospitalization it can be difficult on a person to find the right balance they need and can easily fall back into a depressed state.  Perhaps you can contact the hospital that you were at and ask if they have outpatient services?  Most of them do.  As for support groups if you reside in the US you can call the Division of Mental Health (every state has one) which will be in the government section of your local phone book and ask them for referrals and or information to support groups.  They should be able to provide you with some info in that area.

I am also wondering if when you were released the hospital set you up with a doctor appointment (psychiatrist) and or counseling?  If they have then perhaps you can give the doc a call and see if you can get a sooner appointment?

Just some suggestions...I hope this helps...Take care :-)

Levon--Hi there!! Follow up counseling on a regularly scheduled basis sounds like it might be helpful for you. Do you have anything like that? I know I started to look forward to my appointments, although sometimes stressful, I always felt better when I left. I often had something to work on (on myself) until my next appointment.

Are you taking anything to help you with this?

I went thru outpatient ........but now insurance will no longer pay; so I do not have a therapist - I am currently unemployed and budget is soooo tight

I just found depressed anon. I wonder if this would be a place to start.

Hi Levon. Glad you found this board, there are alot of caring people here. For me, my depression and anxiety is a day by day thing. Some days are good, some are bad.

Have you called the hospital you were at and asked them about any places you could start at, or help that is out there considering your budget is tight? They might be able to give you some ideas.

Thanks so much Suzy.......Have you noticed any trends as far as good days and bad ones? I am trying to get a grip and it is so hard. I have gained so much weight which I believe I have done to isolate myself further. Does this make sense?

I hope you are having a good day today

Levon

Levon, there may be services in your area that are still available to you despite your financial situation. I used to work at one. :-)   The hospital you were at would be a good place to call or maybe the therapist you saw in the past.

I agree with everyone else that you should start with the hospital you were at. Are you on medication? That should be your first concern and then look into therapy. I hope you are feeling better soon. Also try the local health department.
