Hello,  I normally post on the IBS or Chrons site..  I just got back from Cleveland Clinic.. I have had stomach issues for the past 20 years.. I am housebound because of it..  They think I might have Chrons dis.. They gave me a rx for mirtazapine.. I tried Zoloft and Paxil and had a really bad experience on it.. It made me so sick to my stomach I could not take it.. I do ok with xanax a low dose.. The doctor said he gives this to people with IBS and it does help.. ANyone take it?? It is also known as remoron...  Thanks!!!

I used to take Mirtazapine, and I loved it. It had me asleep within 15 minutes at night, and elevated my mood vastley. Plus, it was easy to remember, I kept it next to my bed, and it was awsome as you don't need water with them. Annoyinlgy they then decided I was allergic to it, and stopped it.

I'm now on Sertraline. I have to take that in a morning, as it acts as a huge dose of caffiene in my body and i go hyper. It's ok, but I'm not getting the sleep I need anymore, as any little noise wakes me up like it used to. It keeps my general mood chirpy though, which I guess is good.

Remeron is a very good antidepressant if you have a chronic stomach problem. You have to see if it will work for you and whether the side effects are tolerable. In general, it tends to be extremely sedating at lower doses, but this goes away at higher doses. It is also notorious for causing weight gain, but not everyone will have a problem with it.

Let us know how you do!

I have been taking Remeron for a couple of years and I like it. I take it at night right before I go to bed and I usually sleep for about 7 hours. I also have crohn's disease and have not had any problems taking it. I hope it helps you too.
