Hi Bookeater,
Welcome to the forum,I am very glad that you found us. And you will see that there are alot of great people on this site that have great advice, and alot of heart.
First of all...take a couple deep breaths. You have nothing to be nervous about. You are taking one of the most important steps in healing that there is to take.
There is nothing that you can say to your Doctor that they have not heard or will surprise them. Remember that is what they are getting paid for.
Now for the visit.
I know you are scared and it is very nerve wracking..but believe me after you have told them everything and you are walking out of there knowing that you are going to be getting some help (and knowing you aren't as crazy as you thought you were!!) you will feel so much better.
You need to be honest, you need to tell them everything no matter how small it seems to you. One small thing might make the big difference in how your doctor can treat the depression/anxiety and panic attacks.
I found this survey on the net..maybe you can fill it out and then print it,and take it along with you.
It might help to add what is not listed on this and give it to the Doctor.
You are going to be fine, just keep that in mind.

Good Luck and please let us know how you are doing!

 Hello!

Well, I made it to the doctor. I was unable to see my regular doc on such short notice but it was for the best. I took a list of all my symptoms and experiences. The doctor was great and very professional. She prescribed Xanax and Prozac, put me off work for the week, and walked me up to the Psych. department. I go to the therapist tomorrow.

Now, I can't seem to take the medicine. I'm awfully nervous about it. I was supposed to start this morning but can't bring myself to do it.

Thanks for the replies and the questionnaire.

Book, the meds you were prescribed are very safe.  You will feel better on them; just give them a little time to work, especially the Prozac, which will take 4-6 weeks to become effective.

Hi Bookeater,
I am so glad that you made it to the doctor. And that she was great.
Don't be nervous about the meds, they are there to help you, which is why you went to the doctor in the first place.

Please keep us posted on your recovery.
