Hello - Looking for a bit of advice. I have never seen a therapist but think I should. What type of therapist should I make an appointment with? A psychotherapist, psychologist, psychiatrist, clinical social worker, etc... I do feel like I probably suffer from depression but I'm not necessarily looking for someone who will prescibe drugs (i.e. a psychiatrist). Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Thx.

Hi Shaz,
That is a hard question,as we do not know what you are going to them for..depression yes,but as far as progression of the disorder.
You could always make an appt with your family Dr,and then tell them what is going on and ask them to recommend someone.
I think that would he easiest, and then if He/She recommends someone in the field you would feel more comfortable....

Hi shaz..you are obviously not feeling too good these days and have decided to seek help and that's great ~ takes lots of courage to do that...well done :-) Along with Shy I would suggest going along to your doc and telling him how you are feeling just now - and go from there..explain that you are not too fussed on going on meds just now and wish to seek counselling/therapy as a first option. My only other suggestion is to look within your community for courses for building selfesteem etc. or if you are religiously inclined maybe seeking help through your local church.

Look forward to hearing how you are getting on.
