How long have you been taking the Cymbalta? I complained to my pain doc that it wasn't helping after 3 weeks on the 60 mg does and she said I hadn't given it long enough. It's been another two weeks and and I'm still unimpressed. This opinion is affirmed and disagreed with by many people on this site. Not every anti-depressant works for everyone.

That said, I'm taking Cymbalta for chronic pain and depression. When I was on Prozac for PMS, I was doing a lot better.

Dx: FMS/CMP/DDD - 2 ACFs with more to follow, scoliosis, unlevel hips
Rx: Cymbalta, Soma, Zanaflex, EC Naprosyn, Ambien CR, Lortab and Percocet.

Some people do not respond to an anti depressant but it doesn't mean that you won't respond to all of them. There are so many out there an sometimes it can be trail and error in finding the one that suits you and helps you. I now take effexor but I tried a few different ones before this and they didn't suit me. The effexor has really helped with my depression and anxiety.
If you haven't been taking the cymbalta for long, you need to give it about 4-6 weeks to start working properly, otherwise talk to your doctor about changing meds and tell him about your mood and how you feel. It is better to be honest about how you feel.

Take care.

Hi arguy
I can understand your frustration.  As Victoria said, it can be a lot of trial and error in finding the right meds, but it is worth persevering.  I have been on 4 different anti-depressants and am on 2nd lot of mood stabilising drugs, amongs others.  I have had some vile side effects with some of the previous drugs I've been on, and while the current anti-depressants have helped a lot, I was still having mood swings that really frustrated the heck out of me.  This latest stabilising drug (touch wood) seems to be doing the trick, but it has been a long road in trying to get to this point.  I have also been seeing a psychologist fortnightly and a psychiatrist on and off (mainly for medical prescriptions), so have been attacking the problem from many fronts.  I hate taking drugs but I know that they are helping me.  Please talk to your doctor arguy, give them a chance to work, but if they don't at least improve your mood within the suggested time frame, then maybe you need to try another type.  Just be really honest with your doc so he/she can work out  the best thing for you.
Good luck, I hope you find something that helps you soon.
