Hi everyone,
I have a doctors appointment tomorrow to talk about the way I have been feeling.  I am feeling really depressed.  I have posted once before titled "Feeling really in the dumps".
I am really embarrassed to go to my doctor and tell him how things are.  One reason for that is because I actually work at that clinic.  I know that shouldn't be something to stop me from going, but I am starting to get really nervous to go in and talk to him about it.  I really want help, but I just don't know if I can do it.  Has anyone else had the same anxiety about going to talk to their doctor about depression?

Does your insurance plan allow you to go else where?  All though the party line is " it's nothing to be ashamed of"  I can understand not wanting to share the info in your place of work.
Of course if your in a clinic you should be able to expect less of a chance of the info leaking around the rumor mills because of DR patent confidentiality rules and HIPAA requirments..(at least I would hope).
When I decided the time was right I just made an appointment with a Psychiatrist.  I didn't need a referal.

Thanks for replying.
I know it shouldn't be something to be ashamed of.  Maybe I should look into booking straight with a psychiatrist.  I know my doctor wouldn't let it get out into my workplace, but when he dictates my office visit there are some girls in the office who will be typing it up into my chart.  That is the only place where I am concerned.
Thanks again for replying.  I will look into booking with a psychiatrist.

You are extremely brave going to the doctor about this and you should be proud of yourself as you are taking a massive step towards getting better. Please don't feel ashamed. Depression is an illness and is treated like any other illness.

Let us know how you get on.

there's an old saying, "don't deficate where you eat." personally, if there were any other options open to you, i would take one of them. the universe is too small not to expect runer mills to catch up to you.

I agree with everyone's advice here,I would look into a different clinic for your treatment. If you are having anxiety about it before you go,then your gut is telling you that something is not right.
You have to feel that you trust someone before you can ask for help.

Good Luck and keep us posted!

My appointment is this afternoon.  I will post here after my appointment with what my doctor had to say about it.
Thanks for all of the replies.

Ooooo, good luck hun!

Well done on doing this! I don't think I personally would be able to.

Hope the doctor manages to sort something for you!

Well.........I don't know if that accomplished anything.  We didn't really talk about it a whole lot.  He ended up paying more attention to my stomach issues that I have been having.  When he went on to talk about my stomach I didn't push going back to talking about my depression.  I think I might book with another doctor.

I am not sure what to do about everything.  This needs to get sorted out quickly or else I do not think my marriage can handle much more.

My first question is, why are you seeing a doc that you work for?  I am also in the medical field and would never dream of working for the doctor that treats my depression.  Is this your medical doc?  If so, I would immediately get another doctor to see me about the depressive feelings you are having.  It has been my experience that your mental health should be only you, those you care about and your physicians business because of stigma and opinions of others that are not favorable in regards to depression, i.e. mental illness.
I guess what I would do is seek the advice of a doctor that is not your employer.  If your depression is causing you to miss work and you feel that you need to advise him of this, I would just ask for time off without giving any information that they do not need.
Good luck to you.

Yeah, I would be interested in emailing you.  If we have similar problems I would love to be able to talk to someone with a similar problem.

I have added my email address to the member list.  I hope it worked anyways.

Talk to you soon,
