please help me

hello, ive been diagnosed with depression for 8 months now. and i need to do something to motivate my self at least get me through the day without feeling whats the point. i am dragging my fiance down with me and it hurts to see him unhappy because of me. im so low all the time i just want to be happy again and active like i used to. i cant even motivate myself to go for a nice walk in the evening when i used to do it all the time. has any one got any ideas what i can do to motivate my self to do stuff and not be so tired all the time?
any replies will be much apprectiated. thank you. Natalie

Hi Natalie,

I'm sure a lot of us on here can relate to what you are going through. Are you seeing someone? Have you been diagnoised with depression. I personally just met with a therapist for the first time yesterday and it is great. She doesn't want to jump to me taking medication yet, but isn't ruling it out. If you haven't seen someone please at least go to your regular doctor.

Keep writing...everyone here is great and will be more then happy to talk with you.

Hi Natalie!
I think first you should see your doctor and let him/her know just how you feel.
There is all kinds of help for depression. Your doctor or local hospital should be able to let you know about therapy groups. I wish well. Dee

Hi Natalie,
Welcome to the board I am glad that you found us,and there are alot of people here that give great advice and care alot.
I saw that you had been to the doctor,what type of meds did they put you on?
If you have been on the same med for 8 months and do not see any improvement it is time to go back to the doctor.
Also,when you are depressed you have to really push yourself sometimes.
Going for a walk is leaving your safety zone,and if that used to make you feel good,then push yourself to go for a short one.
As far as your fiance, talk to them about what is going on and ask them to help push you when you need it.

Hi Natalie and welcome to HW tongue

I see you have been diagnosed with depression..wondering if you are taking meds for it? If so, they might need adjusting, and if not - I think you might wanna go back to your doctor again and discuss how you are feeling just now and see if meds are an option to get you thru this rough patch. Counselling/therapy is another helpful tool youmight wanna consider too.

hello shy, no dont stop writing as i like opinons from everybody. i have been to my doctors and he has upped my dosage. i am on fluoxetine. and seeing how that goes then i have to go back to the doctors for a check up. i have my good days and i have my bad days but so does every one./ the doctor told me i have to tire my self out every day physically not mentally. so lots of exercise for me. thank you for your reply it means alot to me. and i hope we can keep in touch.
