I am really thinking about going to the hospital tomorrow, whenever I wake up that is. I called lifenet but the numbers that I received from them and called said the wait time for an appointment to see a phsyke is 3 months. I was going to a gp that had me on lexapro 20mg and buspirone for anxiety for about 2 years along with ambien 10mg at night as I'm a very light sleeper, and it worked wonders, then I became complacent and didn't go back to see the doc for 9 months. when I finally did go back to see the doc he was no longer working at the clinic, and the present gp/doc said he was not qualified to give ads, and neither was the last and that I should have never been given them, if I wanted the meds I'd need to see a phsyke, I said thanks for wasting my time and left. I feel I've wasted a lot of time, as I've been in a deep depression with anxiety for quite some time.

I work as a independent computer consultant and have lost a lot of potential clients because of this illness. One client wanted their money back because I wouldn't go back to do some more work, which was optional of course, no contract or anything. I went so far as to change my phone number so they would think I was unreliable, as its embarrassing to tell anyone about my problems. Fact is I just couldn't get out of bed, anywho they found my new number, and called me and decided to threaten me with bodily harm via voicemail, not very bright, and said one day I'd be going on a fake service call and they'd be waiting for me, I saved the voicemail recording to cd, as if my anxiety wasn't bad enough.

My apolgies for rambling on. I'll let you all know how tomorrow turns out as we all know moods change, and ideas come around.

Hi George
Welcome to the board,I am really glad you found us and you will see that there are alot of great people on here.
First of all are you dealing with the mafia? Geesh...these people need to have their heads examined.
I would really think about turning that tape over to the authorities and walk away from it. You don't need that in your life.

If you are feeling that bad then yes it is time to get to the hospital. And then before you leave see if there is anyway they can recommend someone else for you to see on a regular basis.
I am not sure where you are,but here our family doctors can prescribe meds,if they don't feel comfortable doing it then they will send us to someone that is more qualified. That might be your best bet right there.
You might need to take some time off and get better before you start working again.

Good Luck and please keep us posted.

Thanks for your response. BTW family doctors here in nyc are allowed to prescribe ads, just some do not want to, my guess is some choose not to educate themselves on the matter, as for being a computer consultant / service tech, I run into these type clients every now and then, where nothing you do for them will make them happy. when they say I have had 3 companies come out to help me and none could solve the issues, most of the time they are the issue unfortunately, I had one woman swear she was being hacked wirelessly meanwhile she had no wireless connection. I was asked to wait until monday morning, so I could spend easter with the family, I don't feel half as bad as yesterday, so I guess I'll wait till monday. Oy vey.

George,
I totally understand where you are coming from. My b/f owns his own computer business, and I hear all of his frustration everyday with people like that.
I think he should be on anti depressants too,but he is too stubborn.

I live in NYC and there are many services available to help you. All you have to do is go to a city hospital and tell them how you are feeling and would like to see a psychiatrist. Are you near Bellevue in Manhattan? They are excellent, as is St. Vincent's Medical Center in the Village.

There is no reason to suffer without help. I also don't understand why your PCP is reluctant to prescribe antidepressants to you.....every doctor in New York is prescribing them. He may feel you should be evaluated by a psychiatrist due to the severity of your symptoms. Lifenet told you there is a three month wait to see a psychiatrist?? I don't get it.

Let us know how you do!

I went to the hospital once here in brooklyn looking to see if I could get meds, and one doc took me to a locked down area and then guard approached me and asked me to take off my laces, I knew what was next so I declined at the time, I just assumed all hospitals were that way when you go thru emergency. The pcp that declined to give me meds I do remember from some time back about 3 years ago, when my regular doc was on vacation, I met with him and even though my medical record stated that I had been and was currently on meds from the doc he was covering for, I remember him saying distinctly, I'm not giving you the meds. When I saw him last I wasn't out of control or anything, I waited my turn, when he approached me I said hello Im such n such and shook his hand, and when he asked why I was there all I said was I'd like for you to put me on the meds I was previously on because they worked best, thats when he scoffed and said how could you possibly know what ad is good for you, I was a amazed at his response.

Some doctors are like that. I had to go to a different one as my doctor was out of town. The new one actually sat down and preached at me about not taking meds and trying herbal tea!!!
When I told my regular doctor about it he could not believe it.

Since Geebs is in NY too,I would see if you can find the clinic that he is talking about.

Good Luck and please keep us posted

What is your diagnosis, George?? It seems like they are treating you like a paranoid schizophrenic who is a danger to himself.

Try and go to St. Vincents or Bellevue for care. Both have excellent psychiatric services and clinics. Avoid the emergency room and call them up and see what the clinic hours are.

Hope you feel better soon!

Update: the last doctor didn't work out, but I called a local clinic and spoke to the doctor and explained my situation, and had me come in right away. Searching high and low and his office is 2 blocks away oy vey. So I got the meds and doing a happy dance yeah I'm looking forward to better days.
