Hi all,

I had a really good idea (one that I havn't had for a long time) I was looking around and I found my grandma's old qoutes book, and a lot of them have to do with depression. I just wanted to post some just for it to be here. :-)

I like the quotes... keep em comin! Especially the one about the door. It is so fitting. I heard a similar one but can't remember where I heard it...

"When we find the door to happiness locked, we are so blinded by disappointment that we fail to see the key hanging up beside it" - Unknown (Wish I could remember though!)

Hey that's great djdaz_1985! The one about the door is my favorite too.

"Keep your heart open to dreams. For as long as there's a dream, there is hope, and as long as there is hope, there is joy in living." -unknown

"This is my depressed stance. When you're depressed, it makes a lot of difference how you stand. The worst thing you can do is straighten up and hold your head high because then you'll start to feel better. If you're going to get any joy out of being depressed, you've got to stand like this." -unknown

"They say they don't know when but a day is gonna come. When there won't be a moon and there won't be a sun. It will just go black. It will all just go back to the way it was before."-Conor Oberst

"In the midst of winter, I finally learned that there was in me an invincible summer."- Albert Camus

~"In moments of discouragement, defeat, or even despair, there are always certain things to cling to. Little things usually: remembered laughter, the face of a sleeping child, a tree in the wind—in fact, any reminder of something deeply felt or dearly loved. No man is so poor as not to have many of these small candles. When they are lighted, darkness goes away—and a touch of wonder remains." ~ tombstone inscription

I like this one too :)

Hi

I am Kitt and I am pretty new here.

I love quotes and the ones you posted here are great.

I find a lot of peace in song lyrics too.

Bless you. :-)

Wow! these quotes are really great guys :-)

For those of you who dont know my background all that well I worked in mental health for quite sometime (have a bs psychology degree) and I had a few sayings that I would tell my own "clients" when they would get discouraged.  Sometimes, I have to kick myself in the behind to remember them myself as we are always worse at taking our own advice.

1. If you keep looking back over your shoulder into the past, you will never be prepared for what comes in the future.

2. Sometimes we have to fall backwards alittle inorder to keep moving forward.  (this one is especially true with depression, we live and learn from it)

hope for the future, grief is not eternal
                                                        verdi
I was in my car one afternoon listening to opera on NPR radio before i went in to work. it was 2 days after my husband left our marriage (left our marriage sounds better than left me for some reason)  it was at the end of an act when the 'translator' came on and said what the singer had said and i sat there...in the middle of all of my sorrow and said to myself...she has a point.
