I hopped on here from the Parkinsons and Crohns site.
I have multiple disabilities with Crohns disease, severely deaf and now have major queries over neuromuscular disorder and movement disorder and need a wheelchair.
I am SO depressed about it all.
Had to give up my work as an Artist as couldnt physically paint.
My world has literally, fallen asunder in the past two years.
As I am on a lot of meds has anyone here any ideas of natural remedies for sleep and depression that has been tried and proved even fairly successful.
xx to ye all,
Ann

Hi Ann,
Welcome to our board.
I am so sorry that you are going through all of this. Wow,you are a very strong person and I can totally understand how it would pull you into depression.
I found the below site with alot of natural remedy ideas, although I have never tried any of them myself (however I am going to look into it too).
Please keep posting and let us know how you are doing.
Hopefully some of our members will be able to give you some other ideas too.

Hi Ann, I dont have any recommendations for natural remedies but the site Shy left is a good one to check into.  I would however speak to your physicians before trying anything that is over the counter or any supplement as they can interact with prescreption medications if your taking any and also aggreviate physical illnessness.  Just to be on the safe side.  I was wondering what kind of movement disorder you have?
I have had Multiple Sclerosis for almost 6 years and I was diagnosed with Multiple System Atrophy in Feb 05.  The MSA is an autonomic disorder and was quite a shock as I was 32 at the time and it is quite rare for someone my age to have this.
Anyhow I hope you find something to help your sleeping.  Keep posting, we are always here.  Take care

Yes Els, will be careful with natural remedies as am aware of contra-indications. What is an autonomic disorder? I'm 54 and twin sister already diagnosed with PD. I donno what movement disorder I have, no one is really engaging with me on this. Our health service here is in utter chaos with the nurses on strike and the consultants threatening to do the same!

You might want to look into seeing a homeopath. Homeopathy has helped me and my family immensely. It is important that you find a well-trained and experienced homeopath that you feel good about working with. Some people say they do homeopathy when really they are dabblers. A good place to start is at the NASH website. NASH= North American Society of Homeopaths. Homeopathy works especially well on the mental emotional level and helping your body find its own equilibrium and healing powers, and you don't have to worry about side effects or drug interactions like you would herbs and other supplements. It is not a quick fix though, it is something that takes a bit of commitment and time. For me it has been very much worth it!
